Hello! A heatwave is on the way. No, really! And that means our Club comes to life! We really hope you’ll pop in and visit. Whether it’s for a game of tennis, an exercise class, a game of croquet or just for a drink and to see what’s going on. You’re all very welcome!

First of all. Many of you will know that Charlotte Lewis unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. Sam Manzur has asked that we let you know about their family’s arrangements;

Charlotte’s thanksgiving service will be held at Frinton Parish Church, Old Road, Frinton on Sea, CO13 9BX at 11.30am on Tuesday May 10th.

Prior to this a private family service at the crematorium will be held.

Charlotte would not have wanted black to be worn. She loved leopard print so please feel free to wear it whether just a little or a lot.

Family flowers only. Any donations to Winstons Wish via PG Oxley Ltd. Frinton on sea. Thank you.

And just before we get tucked into this week’s activities, you might like to know that Katy Calver, our amazing head of the gym alongside 9 other members are doing the ‘Pier to Pier’ sponsored walk this Sunday. It’s 15 miles and they’ll be raising money for St Helena’s Hospice. It’s Walton to Clacton Pier & back, which is quite a way. If you see them along their route, please do give them your support and more importantly… there will be a pot behind the bar if you’d like to help them reach their fundraising goal!

In other news…

Sunday Lunches are BACK!
The next one will be on Sunday 15th May. It’s selling fast,. The last two Sunday roast Lunches have sold out, so please do book online ASAP and we’ll be very pleased to see you. This time one the menu, it’s roast chicken or seabass and of course there’s a tasty veggie option too. Book Here.

Then on Sunday 19th June, it’s Father’s Day. And that means a big proper roast Sunday lunch with a range of menu options. Please book now to secure your table.

Tennis
We are edging ever closer to opening our grass tennis courts. As you can see from the photos, they’re looking nice and green! Our aim is to start opening them for play from around the middle of May. We will be taking bookings online or via the office. However, with work on the grass being done next week, just because there are lines on a court or a net is up. Please don’t just use them unless or until Steve has given his blessing! And once they are open, whilst you can still turn up and play, if someone has booked the court? They take precedence. For any log-in issues or booking details, please speak to the office and they’ll help you!

Squash
Our club nights and other competitions and coaching continue. All the details can be found on our website.

Croquet
As the weather improves so croquet will get busier. We have our training and classes going on too – so if you have never picked up a mallet? There’s no excuse not to get involved. Please do get in touch with our lively croquet players… they’ll be more than happy to help and get you involved. Either speak to the office or make contact with Richard Everett (croquet@fosltc.com) or Ann Evander.

Gym
Our fitness classes continue. In addition to the classes we have available, which can be booked here, we are also thinking of holding some new ones too. But before we get going, we’ll need to ensure that they are going to be viable. Please speak to Katy to find out what’s planned and then we can get you signed up. And don’t forget if you are a AAA Member of the Club, the classes are free to attend and also if you’ve not had your induction to use our amazing gym equipment yet… please do so by booking yourself in. Non gym or others can get involved with classes but fees are applicable. All the details are here.

Open Day
It’s not long until our Club Open Day!
The whole Club will be open on Saturday 21st May. We’ll have a range of special offers and it should be the day we’ll have some brand new apparel and towels available to purchase too! So if you’re interested in coming along – please do mark the date in your diary. This is our chance to bring in new members too – PLEASE do spread the word. We’ll have more details next week!

Pool
The swimming pool cover is off and we have begun the process to get it cleaned and ready to open. We expect swimming to resume from Saturday 21st May ( juniors must book here – slots are free of charge, please use ‘Member Swimming’ when booking for the 21st May).

That’s it for now. Please enjoy your Club and the weather too… why not pop down for a cheeky sharpener?

Have a great week!
