Yes, I know it’s Thursday and you’re receiving your weekly newsletter today. The reason? We have our AGM tomorrow (Friday) and we hope as many of you will come as possible. If not just to find out about your Club and to get involved in the official business to conduct, but also we will be serving canapés and have a special BOGOF deal on our King of Soho Gin. AGM
Arrivals from 6pm and we’ll get started at 6.30pm. Please do register your interest with Rebecca so we can cater effectively rebecca@fosltc.com – We look forward to seeing you at the Club!

Remembrance Sunday
On behalf of the Royal British Legion, we have been selling poppies, wristbands and key-rings at the bar, so please come get your poppy and donate as generously so you can support this tremendous charity and the work they do.

Squash
The Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club Squash Club Championships 2022. Finals’ day this year will take place this Saturday, the 12th November 2022. Matches are due to start at 17:00 starting with the 3rd and 4th play-off. Following this will be the Final of the Men’s draw.

Following the matches, please make your way to the bar for some drinks and the presentation. Spectators welcome!

Tennis
Have you signed up for our Adult Development Squad yet? Sign up can be done weekly at £11 (£13 non-members). Club Festivities
Yes, it is almost that time of year again! As always, we have many fun events at the Club to keep you busy – from a Tennis tournament and carol singing (on Christmas Eve) to our family disco and New Year’s Eve party. AND our famous festive dinner and party nights in December! Some of the evenings are getting really booked up, so if you want to join in the fun, you’ll need to book as soon as possible. Wine Tasting & Dinner
Saturday 19th November is the date. It’s definitely, the best way to spend your Saturday evening! Bring your friends and family along and enjoy an evening of amazing wine and food. Hosted by Club President Martin Tinsley and presented by our fantastic wine expert Steve Pryer. We’ll be navigating our way through a range of wines from southern France, all paired with a delicious dinner as prepared by Chef and his team. Details are HERE and you can book online.

Roast Sunday Lunches
Our roast lunch on Sunday the 13th is nearly fully booked. If you want to come along, please book asap HERE as we only have limited availability.

The next one will be on Sunday 27th November.
Choose between Roast Rump of Beef, Roast Chicken, Roasted Butternut Squash and Beetroot Wellington or Salmon & Prawn Gratin. Delicious! Why bother with cooking yourself and having all the hassle of some serious washing up afterwards, when we can take care of everything for you?! Walking Football
Two teams from Walton Swifts joined six other teams on Tuesday 8th Nov at Billericay Town WFC.
8 teams in total were split into two leagues, 4 in each league.
Walton Swifts ‘A’: John Mantle (player/manager), Will Boyd ( GK ), Andrew Knoyle, Bill Black, Brian Finnegan, Bob Catchpole, Eddie Smith and Kevin Harkin.
Walton Swifts ‘B’: Steve Chalmers (player/manager), Neil Howie Aylward ( GK ), Dennis Beere, John Kilby, Gordon Farrington, Trevor Martin, Ray Gilmour , Roger Wiseman, Bryan Chitticks and Paul Cooper.

LEAGUE 1
Walton Swifts ‘A’ 0 v 2 Billericay Town ‘A’
Walton Swifts ‘A’ 1 v 1 Leyton Orient ‘A’ : Andrew Knoyle with a thunderous right foot finish.
Walton Swifts ‘A’ 1 v 0 Ingatestone ‘A’ : Bob Catchpole with a lovely left foot curler in the top corner.

Walton Swifts finished 2nd in the table awaiting the winners of league 2.

LEAGUE 2
Walton Swifts ‘B’ 0 v 3 Billericay ‘B’
Walton Swifts ‘B’ 0 v 2 Leyton Orient ‘B’
Walton Swifts ‘B’ 0 v 0 Ingatestone ‘B’

In a close league Swifts ‘B’ played Ingatestone ‘B’ in a play-off.
In a very eventful game Swifts went down 3-4, Bryan Chitticks scored with a low flying rocket giving the goalkeeper no chance, with Steve Chalmers netting twice, a penalty and a shot out wide in the top corner.

Meanwhile Walton Swifts ‘A’ faced Leyton Orient ‘B’ with another great win for the Swifts with Eddie Smith scoring the only goal of the game with a lovely finish from distance, gaining the tournament’s runner-up spot. Overall a great effort from the Swifts with many players making their debut in tournament Walking Football.

Special thanks to Billericay FC for the great hospitality and refereeing. Also to Neil Howie Aylward for helping out at short notice.

FIFA World Cup 2022
Talking of football… Join us for kick off from 20th November as we screen the FIFA World Cup 2022 games in our bar! The England games are guaranteed to be screened, with other group-stage games shown too. Non-members are more than welcome to come and relax and watch with friends and family.
