Hello!

I don’t need to tell you that a heatwave is on the way. Certainly this weekend looks nice and Monday and Tuesday should be hot, Hot, HOT! What I can tell you is that our Club is at its finest when the sun shines! If you want to bring children for a swim, please book a slot. For adult swims (without a Lifeguard) they’re as usual in the mornings. The pool is closed on Mondays for maintenance. If you fancy a refreshing drink or cheeky burger or ice cream, why not visit the Poolside Kitchen? The opening hours are HERE and there will be plenty to do and watch this weekend too – so do pop down to visit!

Here’s what’s happening…

Triangle Tournament
This Saturday (16th) sees the next stage of the Triangle Tournament as sponsored by SPL Stabilised Pavements Limited. It’s a competition that revives the competition between our Club, the Golf Club and Cricket Club. Last weekend saw the Cricket matches. This Saturday sees our Club host tennis and croquet. With full teams ready for action, we’re hoping it should be a fun social event and make for a bit of a spectacle too. You’re most welcome to come and watch! All the action kicks off at 2pm!

Thatched Roof Fundraising Day
There are only two weeks to go until our ‘thatched roof fundraising day’ on Saturday 30th July. There are tournaments for you to enter – tennis, squash, walking football and croquet – sign up HERE. For AAA members and members of particular sports entry is free. Social, gym and non-members are invited to enter for a small fee. We are asking all entrants to donate something now, however small, to our fundraising campaign – please donate HERE.

Of course, you’ll know how important this fundraising campaign is. Our roof needs urgent works to avoid having to completely replace it. And we are making good progress but we need YOUR help to ensure we raise the necessary funds to get the works done and completed.

Incidentally, tasty baps and chips will be available after the tournaments – please order in advance HERE. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes – tickets available from the bar now or on the day.

Tennis
We had a wonderful ‘Wimbledon Whites, Strawberries and Champagne Tournament’ last Sunday to coincide with the finals at the All England Club. With 28 players, superbly organised by our Tennis Committee Chair Bill Greeno it was a well attended and great fun event! The mens’ winner was Toby Parker. Ladies was Maddie Coombes. Best dressed male Richard Williams and best dressed lady was Holly Kunzer. Congrats to all!

If you want to up your game or simply get involved… you can organise coaching through Pete and his team at NEETAcademy. Play Club Tennis (detail in the office) or simply book a court and get playing!

Social Media
You don’t have to be part of the social media gang to see what is going on at our Club – We have a new Gallery page now HERE so you can keep up to date with our latest news, promos and announcements… and to see some lovely familiar faces and places 🙂

Pool
With the good weather demand is significant. Sessions for children must be booked. And if you can’t make your slot? Please cancel, should you not be able to attend.

Cancelling is easy – open your confirmation email – click view booking – click ticket options and cancel booking, should you still have problems please get in touch with Kat. Please make sure that wet children don’t walk (or run!) through the Clubhouse and please do be considerate towards other Club Members.

Summer Camps
Active kids are happy kids! Please don’t forget to sign up your little ones and juniors for our tennis summer camps. It’s lots of fun, kids love it and you can treat them with lunch or ice cream from our poolside bar afterwards. What’s not to like!? Book HERE!

County Week 18th to 22nd July 2022​
It’s back! And some great tennis will be played at our Club. Feel free to pop down and spectate. Our Club will be busy next week once again! Please don’t forget to book your courts in advance if you wish to play. Any issues or booking problems, speak to the office and they’ll try to get you a court!

Don’t forget at the Club’s Pro-Shop, David continues to stock a wide range of rackets and clothing and can restring rackets and regroup handles amongst a wide range of other services too. Why not pop in and have a browse?

Burgers
I am sure you know that I am all about the health. And yes, we do have a wide range of delicious food, salads and pasta on our summer Poorhouse Kitchen menu. But we also have some tasty burgers too. Which is better? Our brand new Clubhouse burger or the chicken burger with molten brie? I can’t decide for you, try for yourself!

Music!
This Sunday, the 17th July we are hosting the first of two Frinton Summer Theatre Music Nights at the Club – you can book tickets HERE And whilst you’re looking at their website, don’t forget that there’s a new play every week for the summer season AND the big top tent returns to the Greensward for the big 50th anniversary musical production of Jesus Christ Superstar!

Towels and Mugs
Don’t forget that if you want to buy a beach or sporting towel or a lovely FOS|LTC mug – they’re on sale from the office. When they’re gone – they’re gone!

I think that’s about it for now. Please do come and visit this weekend. The Club looks amazing. As if I need to remind you, our grass tennis courts are playing really well, the croquet lawn is up and running, we have a wide range of gym classes and in particular aquafit is filling up and wide range of activities remain popular. There’s squash and racketball, walking football or just a lovely place to have a drink and a snack! And to burn off any excesses… we have our wonderful gym – in fact there’s something for EVERYONE!
