Hello!
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter! Spring is here and evenings are about to get lighter too. We’ve sent the newsletter out a little early so you can plan ahead for the weekend. You might want to kickstart things at the Club THIS EVENING. Yes, Thursday Night is Games Night is back as usual with some special drinks offers which may be a nice way to ease into the bank holiday weekend (please drink responsibly yada yada). And this evening we trial a brand new pizza offering too. Freshly made by Chef and the team, you’re welcome to eat at the Club or takeaway. All the details and price list are HERE.
Don’t forget that your clocks will go forward by an hour this Sunday morning at 2am… There’s a lot going on over the coming weeks and we hope you’ll be able to join in. Here’s this week’s news.
125th Anniversary Celebration – Save The Date
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club. We are planning a range of activities and events over the course of the coming months. To mark the historic occasion with a crescendo, we’re planning a tennis tournament during the day and a celebratory Dinner Dance on Saturday 13th July 2024. Details and arrangements for these exciting events are currently being finalised but please put the date in your diary!
Bar Prices
Whatever our politicians may tell you, inflation is still somewhat persistent. Although there were no increases in our bar prices due to unchanged alcohol duties announced in the recent Budget, we have recently faced a few increases in costs. From Tuesday 2nd April there will be a few small increases in prices. However, following discussions with our drinks suppliers, we have managed to obtain reductions in the cost of some drinks, which we’ll be passing on to you. Please enquire at the bar if you require further information. The Members’ discount remains at 20% if you show your card at the bar. The good news is that prices remain on hold until after the bank holiday weekend. Another good reason to pop in to the Club!
Funeral Details
Alan Brient’s funeral is to be held at 1pm St Mary Magdalen Church Frinton on Tuesday 2nd April.

Primary Schools Fundamental Movement and Multi Racket Skills Outreach Program
Our Head Squash Coach Chris Vine has recently completed a four-week “in curriculum” outreach program at Frinton and Kirby primary schools. The sessions involved teaching classes of 30 year 5 and 6 children. Fundamental (Agility, Balance, and Co-ordination) movement and multi-racket skills using activities from an England Squash National Primary Schools Resource. The idea of this is to give pupils the chance to learn how to successfully make regular contact with an easy-to-use racket and ball and to have a go playing games against a bench (in pairs). Or against both sides of a mini wall to excite their ongoing interest in racket sports.

The follow on from this program will be a Tendring School Games Mini Squash Competition at the Club on Thursday 28th March from 12.00-2.45pm and Tuesday May 21st – spectators are more than welcome!
Walking Football Match Report
The Walton Swifts demonstrated remarkable skill and teamwork in their recent over 60’s friendly match, securing a solid victory against F.C. Clacton Knights with a final score of 3-1.
