Hello!

As always, there’s such a lot going on at your Club. The roof works continue apace and the project to complete the new disabled WC is underway too. Last weekend saw the sell-out Quiz Night. A huge thanks to John D Collins for hosting the quiz, to all of you who came along and to Chef and our team for serving such a tasty supper whilst looking after our bars too. SUCH a fun evening! Our next big Club night is Bingo and Curry. Details below. And I should have seen this coming but there was quite the commotion at the Club on Wednesday as a visiting clairvoyant popped in. The event was so popular that, blimey, I can see into the future… they’ll be returning soon. This time, we’ll let you know the date in advance! 

We will be in touch next week with details of the new Membership Subscription Rates for 2023/24 and some changes ahead. However for now, here’s this week’s news.

Roast Lunch | Sunday 26th February

Today is your last chance to book for Sunday’s roast lunch! We will be serving: Roast Rump of Beef, Roast Loin of Pork, Roasted Butternut Squash and Beetroot Wellington and Pan Roasted Salmon. Wedding Open Afternoon | Saturday 4th March

Our ‘Wedding Open Afternoon’ will be a wonderful opportunity to get a feel of the Club and facilities and will allow you to take time planning and imagining your special day. We’ll have the room set up, our team, and a range of local suppliers on hand to answer any questions you may have. Planning a wedding can be stressful… so let us help! Bingo and Curry | Friday 10th March

Frinton Jazz Club | Sunday 12th March

More amazing world class artists to visit your Club! Sax stars Derek Nash and Phil Veacock have collectively notched up over 50 years of boogie with The Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and bring you a show full of swing, blues and grooves alongside the all-star rhythm section of Denny Ilett (guitar), Jim Watson (organ) and George Double (drums).

The afternoon show has already sold out. But they’ve added an extra date! A Sunday evening show at 7.30pm. You can book HERE.

Mother’s Day Roast Lunch | Sunday 19th March

Croquet Season Opening | Saturday 25th March 

Our Club has made a considerable investment in constructing a new purpose built croquet lawn. This project started at one of our AGM Meetings. John and Susie Anderson posed the question as to whether croquet could return to our Club following an absence of 30 years. And the answer was YES! The project was ably led by our Club President, Martin Tinsley and subsequently with the project management skills of Richard Everett and expertise of Steve, our Club groundsman. Funded by generous donations from Members and grants from the Croquet Association, this project has now finally come to its conclusion. The investment resulted in levelling and subsequently seeding the new lawn back in October 2021. The grass has grown over the last year and is now to a stage where it can be used as a full sized croquet lawn. Hurrah! 2023 will be the first year where the new lawn may be used for competitions and regular play.

The formal opening of the new croquet lawn will take place on Saturday 25th March. There will be a cutting of the ribbon to open the lawn at 1:30pm. The afternoon will be a celebration of croquet with an Alice in Wonderland theme (The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party which involves flamingos as croquet mallets and hedgehogs as croquet balls). No animals will be hurt in this re-enactment! The new lawn celebration will be fancy dress as any character from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Members and Non-Members are welcome to come and join in with our celebrations (and if they wish to they can come in fancy dress too – that is optional).

Tots Squash & Tennis Coaching 

Give your little bundle of energy the best start in life by bringing them to our fun activity classes! Children and parents will have a chance to socialise and make friends.

Walking Football 

Walking football has become increasingly popular over the last few years – it is a fun and entertaining way to bring people together.

Our walking footballers play every Monday afternoon, 2.00pm until 3.30pm and every Wednesday evening (under floodlights) from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. Any over 55 newcomers are welcome! First week is free of charge and all you need to do is to turn up!

Active Essex | FREE Fitness Classes

Our sessions were extremely popular, we had many positive reviews and many happy newcomers coming through our doors! Most of our classes were fully booked and some with extensive waiting lists. 

NOW we are taking new bookings for March and April, so be quick! 

Please remember these classes are for less active over 55’s, so should you know anyone who would be interested and didn’t attend our classes in Jan/Feb this year, let them know. Book online HERE.
