Hello!

As the weather gets colder, we hope you’ll now be turning to the festive season and getting booked in at one of the Club’s events. More of that later. This Sunday we have the FINAL Sunday roast Lunch before our seasonal offering kicks off… with that in mind… why not book yourselves in? We have Roast Chicken, Roast Lamb and a Vegetarian offer on the menu this week. Tasty! You must make your booking by 5pm on Saturday… as always we have two sittings. Book Here.

Oh. And if you fancy having a take-away Sunday Lunch? You can do that too! Arrange a time to pick it up and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Without all the mess and fuss of cooking it all! Just book on the website.

A New Arrival

In other great news, I am delighted to announce a new arrival at the Club. If, like me, you remember our Club in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s then you’ll know the Space Invaders machine was a big deal. I got pretty good at that over the summer holidays! Anyway, thanks to Hills Prospect, they have supplied the Club with a BRAND NEW replica machine. It has rather smart Space Invaders livery and it’s ready to play. There are over 3000 games pre-loaded for you to try… but if you’re going old school, game number 2016 ‘Space Intruder’ is what you’re looking for. Mark has the instructions. We hope you’ll enjoy!
Our thanks to Trevor and Jon at Hills Prospect for delivering this wonderful gift to the Club. It’s much appreciated and a terrific example of their commitment to help us continue to develop and grow.

Festive Party Nights

In other news, our Christmas Party Nights and Members’ Sunday Lunch are getting booked up. Some evenings have now sold out. If you haven’t organised a table yet for your friends, family or colleagues… Now is the time! Book Here.

Similarly our Carols with Caryll on Christmas Eve will be supported by King of Soho Gin looks like it’s going to be a busy one. If you fancy popping down we’ll be serving canapés, cocktails and have some special offers on at the bar as well. They’ll be taking place at 6pm on Christmas Eve. In the festive spirit.. it’s a FREE event! All you need to do is register your interest by letting Glenys know how many you’ll be… glenys@fosltc.com

And on to New Year’s Eve and our Black Tie Fine Dining Dinner with Dancing! It’s the first time in many years that the Club has put on an event for NYE and we hope you’ll want to join us. We are now getting booked up so please do book here.

Festive Gift Card

Perhaps you’re wondering what to buy a family member or a friend for a Christmas gift? Here’s the answer… FOSLTC Gift vouchers are now available for purchase!
You can use them for anything they like – bar, events, lunches, weddings. A lovely gift that helps your Club too!  Please speak to Kat to arrange. Moving onto sporting news…

Squash
Finals Day – Saturday 20th November

Final’s day this year will take place on Saturday 20th November 2021. Matches are due to commence at 17:15 starting with the 3rd and 4th play-off match. Following this will be the Final. We hope you’ll want to come along and support with as many spectators as possible! It will be a great return of the finals this year.
Following the matches, please make your way to the bar for some drinks and the presentation.
The squash viewing area of the Glassback court (upstairs in the gym) will be unavailable to use whilst the Squash Final is taking place on Saturday. Apologies to gym members!

Other Sporting News

The Tennis Winter Box Leagues are underway please do play your matches! All details are on the notice boards. Our gym activities are ramping up with classes and one-on-one training available too. Just get in touch with Katy for more details.
Croquet continues and by all means get in touch with Richard or Ann if you’d ike to get involved. Or speak to the office to be put in touch.

Fixing and Mending Things

As always, there’s a lot to do around the Club. A new flag is on order, we’re fixing holes in the roof and sorting out the storage shed near the hard courts. Whilst the new LED lights for the bubble courts have been fantastic, we know the old outside hard court lights have mostly been behaving but they’re having a few issues. We are on it. And we are finally moving forward with a plan to finish off the member’s bar and sorting out the ability to have some ambient music too.
And if you are interested in helping out on one of the committees (in particular ‘events’ or the ‘gym’) PLEASE get in touch!
We are about to head into a really busy time. Please do book yourselves in and get involved. After the past 18 months of disruption to our lives, we hope a sense of normality and fun may return for this year’s festive season.
Meanwhile, have a good week!

James Max
