Hello!
We certainly had a busy week last week. The Dinner Dance celebration event to mark the Club’s 125 anniversary was a superb success. With huge thanks to our team who put on the most brilliant evening. The Club looked fantastic with the ballroom decked out in our Club colours by Hannah and her volunteer helpers with wonderful flower arrangements by Susanne Allenby. Chef and his team served the most delicious three course dinner and our live band were brilliant! It was a spectacular celebration attended by many Members, their guests and our new local MP!
As always there are a huge amount of thanks required. To put on these events is no small matter. The organisation required was significant. Hannah did an incredible job and had to step up to fill Georgia’s shoes to ensure the event ran smoothly. Georgia’s currently ill and off work for a few weeks and we wish her a speedy recovery. The Board, bar team, all the service staff and Chef and his team pulled out all the stops. A particular vote of thanks to Clive Allenby and Victoria Kunzer for going over and above. Our President, Martin Tinsley not only cut short his holiday to be present but also secured some incredible auction items. Mark helped out, even though he’s been on annual leave and Mel & Jonathan managed the very busy bar! And Ann Towler has once again tended to our flower boxes to make sure they continue to look fabulous. Thanks to all! So far, through the generosity of Members and guests on the evening, we have raised over £7,500 for our Club. And counting!

Last Sunday we saw the annual ‘Wimbledon Whites’ Tennis Tournament. 20 players, sunshine and grass courts. Superbly organised by Tennis Chair, Tom Philpot and run by assistant coach Louis Parker. It was super fun and will return again next year!

On to this week’s news;
County Week | Monday 22nd – Friday 26th July
The LTA’s Summer County Cup event, often referred to as ‘County Week,’ is arguably the most historic event in the domestic tennis calendar, with origins tracing back to 1895.
This year, we are proud to host the Men’s Group 7, featuring teams from Oxfordshire, Cornwall, South of Scotland, Isle of Man, Cumbria, Bedfordshire, Sussex, and the Channel Islands.
Expect some fantastic tennis matches and do pop down the Club to spectate and support the players. The weather forecast for next week seems pretty good too. Our Poolside Kitchen will be open every day between 12 and 6pm.
As always we will have courts reserved for Members. But please do book to ensure you can get on court. Either via the website or the office.
Thursday Night is Games and Pizza Night!
For a trial of two weeks, we are encouraging families to come along as we’ll be serving from 5pm until 8pm. Chef sells out so if you want to ensure you don’t miss out – please do pre-order at the Poolside Kitchen!
