Hello!

What an exciting week it has been. And it’s not over yet! Defying the critics, Gareth Southgate and his team stepped up to the plate. Delivering a 2 – 1 win over The Netherlands taking England to the finals of Euro 2024! Quite the achievement. Whether it’s going to be job done (winning) or job well done (runners up) we’ll just have to see. Thanks to Mark and his team, we’ll be extending our Bar opening hours on Sunday so you can enjoy the finals at the Club. Also, this month a big change as we’re moving the age range for Juniors to make our offer even more compelling! More of that later.

England v Spain | Sunday 14th July 8pm

Here are the plans! We will be screening the final LIVE at the Club on the big screen.
Pizza will be available from 6pm until 8pm (or when it’s gone it’s gone!) served from the car park. The Bar will be open with special offers on selected drinks whilst the match is on.

Thursday Night is Games Night | Tonight from 7pm

We’re back! All the usual bar games and sports, and with the reasonable weather why not pop down for a game or two on court too? And yes, pizza night returns with a refreshed menu. Last orders before 8.30pm and do be aware that for the last few weeks Chef has sold out so please get your order in early (even if you’re playing late you can pre-order!). And we’ll have special offers on drinks too. Click HERE for the update menu.

Wimbledon Finals Weekend and Club’s 125th Anniversary

The football’s not the only final taking place over the weekend. WHAT a weekend of sport we have ahead and a celebration at the Club too! It’s the Ladies’ Wimbledon Final on Saturday Afternoon scheduled to start at 2pm on Centre Court, then we’re celebrating our Club’s 125th anniversary on Saturday evening. We have our Wimbledon Whites Tournament on Sunday at 11am followed by the Wimbledon Men’s Final on the big screen. Again play due to start at 2pm. Tennis, celebrations and football!

For those who didn’t manage to buy Dinner & Dance tickets and would like to attend, please speak to Georgia@fosltc.com or Hannah@fosltc.com about any last-minute cancelations. We may still be able to squeeze you in.

Sunday is Funday!

Our annual Wimbledon Whites Tournament is back! It’s loads of fun, so please come and join in. Yes, I’m donning my tennis whites (FOSLTC ones of course) and getting my bat out this year too! Even if you’re not a member, you’re welcome to sign up for the tournament and play on our beautiful grass courts. I’ve checked the weather forecast and have been assured that the sun WILL be shining! Please sign it HERE or on the tennis board in the foyer. If you need any clothing, why not pop in and see David in the shop. He carries a range of merchandise including some of the Club’s branded kit. And you can see the full range HERE.

Poolside Kitchen

We’re getting some super feedback from you about our Poolside Kitchen this year. The menu is delicious, prices reasonable and where better to have a tasty snack than at the Club? Our Clubhouse Burger is the best it’s ever been with a succulent beef burger served in a brioche bun. Or how about the epic chicken burger with its molten brie and tasty bacon? And yes, of course we have healthy options with a range of salads and toasted paninis too. If the weather is good, we’ll be open late on Friday, until 9pm (last orders at 8.30pm). Saturday we’re open 12 – 6pm and Sunday 12- 5pm. And Pizza service on Sunday starts from 6pm. So do come and join us over the weekend!

Don’t Freak Out! | Sunday 28th July

The Frinton Summer Theatre Music Night is back! Supported by Clive Brill and his Jazz Slayers, the amazing jazz funk band, Don’t Freak Out return to our Club. They are amazing, have a brilliant play list and are fantastic musicians and singers. You’ll LOVE IT! We usually sell this one out so avoid disappointment and book NOW!

Whilst on the subject of the Frinton Summer Theatre… Could you offer accommodation to Frinton Summer Theatre for any dates between 27th July – 1st September?

Having cast and crew stay locally is an incredibly important part of Frinton Summer Theatre’s culture. We know that guests are always incredibly grateful to their hosts and leave Frinton with a smile on their faces and vow to come back! Ideally accommodation is less than a 20 minute walk to the McGrigor Hall or Greensward. Hosting requirements Hosts provide a private room, clean sheets and a towel at the beginning of each stay. It’s great if you can share your Wi-Fi and if your guests can occasionally use laundry and cooking facilities at your convenience. Breakfast is not required. We expect the people staying with you to treat you and your property with respect and we are on hand to help you if you have any concerns. The theatre pays £15 per night (£105 per week) for each person staying. If you can provide accommodation any time between 27th July – 1st September, please contact accommodation@frintonsummertheatre.org.

End of Summer Party | Live Band | Saturday 7th September

We’re still waiting for the sunshine to arrive and a proper summer to start. Whilst not wishing to rush through the season, please do save the date for Saturday September 7th. It’s Club Finals during the day and we’ll be hosting the live band ‘After Hours’ at the Club in the evening. They come highly recommended and we can’t wait to see them play live! Don’t miss out and get your tickets HERE.

Summer at the Club

Summer at our Club is always a great fun! Enjoy our heated pool, Poolside Kitchen, bar stocked with delicious drinks, lush grass courts, squash courts, the gym and our classes, junior tennis camps, walking football, croquet and all our social activities. Come down and explore our facilities, chat with Kim about our membership deals or summer guest passes. We offer activities for non-members too.
You don’t have to be a member to pop in for a glass of wine, soft drink or a bite to eat. Or even a slice of cake and a cuppa! The Club is here for everyone to enjoy. And if you’re a Member, discounts apply!

Juniors | Reduced Rates

We have so many different sporting and social options at the Club with variable rates depending upon what you want to do. However one thing we’re very clear on is that we want to make Membership affordable particularly for Junior and Young Adult Members. Recently we introduced a simplified single Membership rate for the Under 16’s. It has proved to be really popular. Unsurprising given what amazing value it is! However we are acutely aware that the cost of living still continues to be an issue for many. The Board have met and decided that our Junior Category should now extend to 18 and under. With the simple qualification that if you’re that age at the time of signing up, you can qualify for the reduced rate for the whole year. Our discounted Young Adult rates then apply to 19 – 29 age category. Full adult rates applicable after that.

With summer now approaching, we really hope you’ll take advantage of this revised offer. And join up as a family. We have a range of offers available and hope you’ll agree that for the facilities and array of activities on offer, this represents incredible value for money.

For more details, please have a chat with Kim to find the best membership option for you.

Visitor and Non Member rates

We’ve sought to clarify rates for playing as a guest or taking on classes as a non-member. Rather than list them all out here they’re posted on our website HERE and on the notice board too. Please do speak with Kim or any member of our team if you’re unsure as to what fees apply.

RESULTS Walking Football

On Sunday, 30th June, our walking football teams competed in “The John Kilby Cup” at Little Oakley. The Walton Swifts squad included Steve Gentry (GK), Bob C, Albert Wiles, Carla Merchant, Chris M, Philip Williams, Andrew Knoyle, and Peter W.

The day was filled with fantastic football and fun. We all enjoyed both playing and watching the games.
And …..A big WELL DONE to everyone who participated – Mandy Kilby mentioned that John Kilby would have been proud. A special thanks to Little Oakley for their exceptional hospitality. In a remarkable turn of events, George Mccann beat Philip Williams to the burger bar, which is quite an achievement. The next match is scheduled at Heybridge on Wednesday, 17th July.

ITF Masters

The Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club was once again the exceptional host to the players and spectators at last week’s ITF Masters MT400 tournament. Triangle Tournament | Update

The tournament generously supported by SPL between Frinton’s great sporting clubs, Cricket, Golf and Tennis continues. Last Sunday saw the Cricket Club hosting. Some of the matches were completed until rain stopped play! Thanks to all those that played – David Binns, Will Cole, Stephen Cole, Anna Eubank, George Moxon, Mark Grover, Todd Rothwell, Tim Pierson, Dan Page and Joe Bassi. Despite the weather we had a great day at the Cricket Club. As for the results? We did better than last time! The Cricket Club achieved 124 for 5 beating the Tennis Club 102 for 4 by 22 runs! We will play another round of cricket vs the golf club at some point in September. For now, get your sticks… we are playing Golf! On Sunday 21st July, the Golf Club will be hosting as we play our golf leg of this year’s competition. We have a good chance of winning the whole tournament still if we win this leg! We did last year. And a win doesn’t just mean a fab trophy, there are cash prizes for clubs too! Any golfers please sign up on sheet in the foyer!

For the Diary! | Sunday 27th October

The Frinton Literary Festival is back. With a wide range of authors and events planned for later in the year, our Club is proud to host this year’s Literary Tea on Sunday 27th October from 2.30pm. And who better as a guest speaker than the UK’s leading etiquette expert, William Hanson. You may have seen him on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, be one of the millions who follow him on instagram or Tik Tok or maybe you’ve heard him this week reporting from Wimbledon on the Capital Breakfast Show with his old pal Jordan North, partner in crime for the number one comedy podcast Help I Sexted My Boss! William is a highly entertaining speaker and is sure to be a fun guest. He’ll be speaking about his new book ‘Just Good Manners’ which is published in September. All the details for the festival are HERE or you can buy your tickets from Caxton Books.

Other Activities | Roundup

Don’t forget to book your courts. Or your classes. Swim times for juniors. Or pop down for the tennis, croquet or walking football Club Sessions. All the details of everything that’s going on at the Club are on the website, on the notice boards or via the office. And with the summer holidays starting, we have plenty on offer for juniors too. Summer Camps and a range of coaching, swimming and other activities too!

Blimey. Got to say that’s a pretty good line-up of activities. And some amazing Membership offers too. Something for everyone as I always say! And I hope there’s something for you too and we’ll see you at the Club.

Have a great week!
