Hello! And here we are and the second tournament of the season has almost finished. What a week! How fabulous has the tennis been? And what a competition! Having just had the longest day of the year… the summer season is well underway and there’s a lot going on at your Club. So, here’s this week’s news!

Thatched Roof

Our Master Thatchers have signed off the works. All completed and works done in time and on budget. Our thanks to James Stock and his team for the amazing work they have done, to our Board and in particular Richard Noel and Clive Allenby for coordinating the works. And our President, Martin Tinsley for inspiring some of the detailing that now looks so fabulous! We certainly have one of the most beautiful thatched roofs in Essex! this would not have been possible without the generous contributions and support from you, our Members. Job done!

Disabled WC

Talking of jobs done, Martin Clift and his team have performed miracles and worked incredibly hard to get our Disabled WC facility fitted. This is a super resource and allows us to be more welcoming to more people! Again, without the support of generous benefactors, these works would not have been possible. And in as far as a WC can be a beautiful thing – thank you Martin! Thanks must also go to Clive Allenby and Richard Noel for pushing this through and to Rebecca Williamson for coordinating the day to day management of the project. Bravo and thanks to all involved. 

Mid Week BBQ | Wednesday 5th July 

Please join us for our mid-week BBQ feast on Wednesday 5th July! For a BBQ feast to include a whole and delicious range of BBQ mains and sides, with options for all. It’s just £13 per person. This evening will be part of The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour held being held at the Club that week, so it’s going to be a busy and fun evening at the Club!

Triangle Tournament | Sunday 25th June, Sunday 9th July and Sunday 23rd July

Please make a note in your diaries. Yes, it’s back – our fun inter-club tournament returns! The Triangle Tournament is a competition that revives the competition between our Club, the Frinton Golf Club and Frinton Cricket Club. Our thanks must go to the generous support of the event sponsor, SPL Stabilised Pavements Limited and our fellow Frinton sporting clubs for making this happen. And especially to Bill Greeno for organising on our Club’s behalf.

This weekend, we we have 8 golfers taking part at the Frinton Golf Club at 3pm on Sunday 25th June. Then there will be 11 cricket players from the Club will be playing at the Cricket Club on Sunday 9th July at 12 noon. And finally, we are hosting a tennis and croquet event at our very own FOS|LTC. on Sunday 23rd July at 2pm. Spectators are welcome at all events, so please come along to support our players! And why not spectate and socialise with a few sharpeners (please drink responsibly yada yada). 

Croquet | One Ball Competition

A new game is catching on in Frinton – One Ball Croquet! This game was initially played last year as a one-off to support the FOS|LTC thatched roof fundraising. It was so popular it has been instituted into the croquet competition repertoire! A full complement of players are competing making it the most popular competition this year by far. Semi-finals will be played on Saturday 12th August and the finals on Sunday 27th August.

The one ball game suits tennis players with two outstanding players Bill Greeno and Mark Grover showing the established croquet players how to play the game.

Squash

The highly anticipated summer league fixtures for the Suffolk and Essex Border Squash League have been unveiled. This marks the start of an exciting summer season for squash enthusiasts. Divided into two divisions, featuring a total of 12 teams, the league promises to display skill and competition.

Our FOS|LTC. team is playing in Division 1 and our matches are take place on Monday evenings at 7.30pm, providing the perfect opportunity for supporters to witness the fast-paced and dynamic nature of squash after a long day.

We are currently top of our division, and the next game is 3^rd July at home to Ipswich! Don’t be shy and come to support our squash team! 

Wimbledon Whites | Saturday 15th July 

New balls please. And cue the music! Let’s celebrate the world’s most iconic tennis tournament … and add Pimm’s! Available on tap at the bar… (please drink responsibly yada yada). Non-members are welcome to enter, so please spread the word amongst your tennis friends!

Frinton Summer Theatre

Huge excitement as the big top tent WILL return to the Greensward again this year. Tickets for that show go on sale for My Fair Lady at the end of June. But there’s a wonderful selection of plays on throughout the summer season and we hope you’ll want to attend this amazing Frinton institution and see the really high quality work and productions they put on for us. In addition the Summer Theatre will be holding two music nights at the Club. On Sunday 16th July and Sunday 13th August. All the details as to what’s on and where to buy tickets can be found HERE.

You know I love to bang on about this – but it’s such a great initiative to support your Club. Without you having to put your hand in your pocket! Why not pop down to the Club for a tasty snack or refreshing alchologic or indeed non-alcoholic drink? We have such a good range available… and with the sun shining… get on down!

If you’re entered into our Club Championships, please do get your matches played and the results logged. Of course, we really hope to see you over the weekend – perhaps you’ll want a slice of delicious cake or a dirty Mr Whippy Ice cream? The Poolside Kitchen will be open too. And please don’t forget to book your courts, swimming pool slots for juniors and all your classes too! Busy times.
