It’s been dry and we’ve even seen some sunshine. The weather forecast for the weekend and next week is looking pretty good too. Finally! And we all know that when it’s dry and the sun shines, our Club is at its best. Do pop in and visit!

Court Bookings

When the weather is good, it’s even more important to book your court. Whilst you can still just turn up and play, if there’s availability… if the court you’re playing on has previously been booked by other members, you must vacate that court if asked by the Club’s staff or by the members who have booked. Even if other courts are available. All bookings take precedence. Please do take a moment to refresh yourselves on our Club’s rules for when you can play on the grass. Also, we ask that recognised tennis wear is worn on court and in particular your shoes are appropriate for grass play. Please book your court HERE.

If you’re bringing guests or are not a tennis Member, please ensure you pay the appropriate fees or upgrade your Membership. Membership checks will be taking place so please don’t be offended if you’re asked! 

Do take a look at our tournament schedule. We make every effort to ensure Members are able to play whilst we have our tournaments on. But if you don’t book a court, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to play. 

Poolside Kitchen Late Night Every Friday Night! 

With the sun shining, it’s the perfect time to dine ‘al fresco’ and enjoy a bite to eat from our Poolside Kitchen. Our Ladies B team is taking on the Officers’ Club, promising some exciting tennis matches to watch. We hope to see you around this evening, the last food orders will be taken at 8:45pm. And the bar will be open as usual until 11pm. The full Poolside Kitchen menu will be on offer and the specials for today is Steak & Frites. If you’ve not pre-ordered, when the special has gone? It’s gone! The same for next week (14th) and we will be serving Fish & Chips.

Weekend Swimming

Another sunshine related announcement. The pool is likely to get busy and there’s no better way to keep your children occupied than in our heated swimming pool. It’s just the ticket. Non-members are always welcome, with a fee payable. Our swimming slots are bookable HERE. Please don’t book more than one swimming slot per day, per child. We’re at the beginning of summer and now is a great time to sign up for Membership. Every category of membership includes swimming. And our junior Membership packages are particularly competitive. Our Poolside kitchen will be open too, so you can treat your family to a tasty lunch or an ice cream. Poolside Kitchen opening times HERE. 

Adult swimming is available every day (apart from Mondays) from 9am. Non-member fees are payable at the office or the bar.

Club Championships 2024 Announcement

You may have noticed, the draws have been posted on the tennis notice board. Please check your play-by date and organise your game. If you cannot make it down to the Club, you can click HERE for the first round match details. Good luck to everyone who has entered. Please make a note in your diaries. The finals will be held on Saturday 7th of September. 

UEFA Euro 2024 

The UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament is scheduled to take place from 14th June to 14th July 2024. Three time winners, Germany, will host this year’s competition. The group stage runs until 26th June, with the knockout stage beginning on 29th June. And we’ll be screening the best matches at the Club. You’ll be able to catch all the big matches on the big screen in our bar, complete with special offers on selected drinks. It’s always more fun to watch the games with fellow supporters, so we are hoping to see as many of you as possible at the Club. 

So far the schedule for the England games is as follows: 

Sunday 16th June 2024 – England V Serbia – 8pm 

Thursday 20th June 2024 – England V Denmark – 5pm 

Tuesday 25th June 2024 – England V Slovenia – 8pm

Father’s Day Sunday Roast Lunch | 16th June 

We’re excited to invite you to our Father’s Day celebration at the Club! It’s going to be a lovely afternoon with a specially prepared two-course roast lunch to celebrate the amazing dads and grandads in our lives. We’ll have a little gift for them too. Celebrate 125 Years with Us! Saturday 13th July 2024

On Saturday 13th July 2024 we’re hosting a fantastic Dinner & Dance to celebrate the Club’s 125h Anniversary. This is such an important milestone and we really hope you’ll book tickets to join us for a spectacular evening. You will be able to bid on some of our items at the Celebratory Dinner and Dance on Saturday 13th July before the day itself. The evening is shaping up nicely starting with a champagne reception, 3-course dinner, and a live band to dance the night away. It should make for a memorable and social evening. Our Online Auction is Back! 

How exciting, it was the talk of the Club a few years ago and now our famous online auction is back! Please click HERE to see what’s on offer this time around and start the bidding! Some of our younger Members enjoyed the day at Wimbledon two years ago and now is your chance to experience a day at the most famous Lawn Tennis venue in the world. You don’t have to be a member to place a bid.

Our Frinton D Men were defeated by Lexden R&F B on Monday 3:6… and our Ladies A took on Lexden Hill and won with the same score 6:3. Our Men A played in Dedham last night and won 7:2. Well done to all our teams! We saw some great competitive matches played and won! Bravo.
