Hello!

We are beginning to get very busy down at the Club as we’re making a wide range of preparations for our celebrations to commemorate 125 years and to prepare for the outdoor season ahead. However, I want to start with some really great news about the Club’s sponsors for the forthcoming year.

Thank You to Our Club Sponsors!

We are proud to announce that for 2024/25 the Club has secured sponsorship for all 24 tennis courts. We would like to thank Stabilised Pavements Limited, 800 Group, Parallel Office and Document Solutions Ltd and Atlas Autos for their support and partnership. In addition, we are pleased to announce the sponsors of our four Mens’ teams representing the Club in the Colchester & District Tennis Leagues. A special thanks goes to our three main sponsors, Stabilised Pavements Limited, Black Swan Care Group and Airacom Limited. Thanks also to Grover & Son Ltd, Clacton Pier Company and DB consulting as team sponsors.

As you know, sponsorship doesn’t happen by osmosis. A particular thank you must go to David Binns who has coordinated our sponsorship activities. A superb job, well done. But also to Adam Swan who has turned ideas into clothing and windbreak designs, to Kat, our Marketing Manager for coordinating the Club’s activities, to Clive Allenby our Treasurer and to Kim our Club Manager for organising. Without all this hard work none of this would be possible. We’re hugely grateful to our sponsors and our team. But we’re not finished yet. Our Ladies’ and Mixed Tennis Teams are also actively looking for sponsorship and there are other places and opportunities in the Club that are up for grabs too. So if you, your business or someone you know may be interested, we’d love to hear from you. Please do get in touch with David via the office.

Pickleball is coming to Frinton-on-Sea!

Pickleball is here! The sporting trend that’s swept the US is coming to our Club. From Saturday 4th May – Monday the 6th May the courts will be up. Why not come down and try this amazing sport? For the uninitiated, pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It’s appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Rules for pickleball are simple, making it a great introductory sport and we’ll have people on hand so you can learn how to play. Book your slot on the sheet in the foyer. Paddles and balls will be available to use on the day if you need to borrow them. Everyone is welcome and this taster event is FREE of charge! We hope you’ll get involved! If popular, we have plans to make this a permanent addition to our Club with more details in due course. A huge thanks to Tom Philpot our Tennis Committee Chair for getting this initiative off the ground and to Marion Bullock for her assistance and generosity.

Gym Committee

Our gym and classes have become a central part for our Club. And it’s about time we had proper representation at Member level and to feed into the Board to ensure we’re providing what’s required. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Gavin Downing who’ll coordinate the setting up of this group.

Grass Courts Opening | Friday 3rd May (weather permitting)

The opening of the grass tennis courts is a much-anticipated event, promising another summer of exceptional grass tennis experiences. Our courts are some of the best in the country and we’re hugely proud of how good they are. And it’s a wonderful surface on which to play. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us.
A huge thanks to Steve and Craig who along with Pete and Matt from Cromer Lawn Tennis Club have had an epic week of activity to ensure our courts are ready for next week.
As always, please make sure you book your courts in advance on our system to avoid any disappointment.
