.Hello!

I found out this week that the weather booking office have all been on furlough. This explains the awful weather we’ve been having. Having finally got through to a physical human being in the Frinton Office for Meteorological Organisation (FOMO for short) I have booked some decent weather for the bank holiday weekend and into next week. They did say that someone had booked tipping rain and howling winds because it was a bank holiday weekend but on this occasion, they’d let it pass.

SUNSHINE! Enjoy!

We have a really busy weekend ahead. And we hope you will come and visit.

The Pool and Poolside Kitchen will be open from tomorrow (Saturday). With a brand new menu but some familiar favourites will be making a return. The opening times and full menu are on the website. Or we have QR codes around the Club… just hold your phone up as if to take a pic… and you’ll get a link to see it on your ‘phone. That’s magic!

The Frinton Festival will be with us from today until Monday with four concerts. Food will be on offer and the bar is OPEN! Pimm’s is, of course, on tap along with our range of lagers, beers and soft drinks on tap. And all our regular wines and spirits too. (Please drink responsibly yada yada… but why not invite your friends to visit?).

The grass courts are looking superb and Steve has been working hard to get them playing well… and yes, they’re in operation, the gym is open, squash is back to playing and the swimming pool is OPEN too! The bubble is coming down and will be safely put away until September. This should allow us to get access to the lights. We’ll keep you posted!

Please do use our website to book ALL your sporting activities. www.fosltc.com (don’t just turn up please!)

Of course we still have some Covid measures in place and with plenty of hand sanitiser around, please observe the rules, wear a face covering when walking about the Club and observe social distancing and the ‘rule of six’.

Meanwhile there are TWO important croquet messages this week.

The first from Susie Anderson;

‘Next Wednesday’s coached session will be at 4pm.

Meanwhile, our coach Rich is willing to organise a visit to play croquet at the Colchester Croquet Club. We are thinking July and more than likely on a Wednesday instead of our usual coaching. This will be an excellent opportunity to play on a full size court as sadly we will not have the Frinton lawns ready until next year. If you are interested, please let me know. susie.john@btinternet.com ‘

And to explain the delay for our progress for the new croquet lawn, this from our Club President, Martin Tinsley;

‘The ground conditions on the Croquet lawn site have necessitated an additional 100 tonnes of top soil which will be delivered to the Club early morning Saturday June 12th.

With support from the Cricket Club, we have been loaned a volunteer digger driver for the day but need two volunteers to drive dumper trucks to ferry the soil from one end of the club to the other. If anyone has any relevant experience and is prepared to step up for the day, please contact Martin Tinsley on 07977 251495 ‘

And with that? You are up to date on all the croquet and other Club news!

Have a great Bank Holiday Weekend!

Club Chairman
