Hello!

There’s a lot to update you on this week, including some very important news about this week’s tournament and also our special event to celebrate the Club’s 125th anniversary. More of that later!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us last weekend for our Open Day! The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing and plenty of you enjoyed tasty food from our new summer menu at the Poolside Kitchen. Plenty of Members and guests had the chance to enjoy a free game of tennis, squash, and croquet, and chat about our gym and junior affiliate membership scheme too. We’re excited to see so many new faces! If you missed the Open Day on Saturday, don’t worry—we’d be happy to show you around at any other time.

If you did pop down but haven’t signed up yet… you have until the end of play on Thursday 30th May to sign up and receive our Open Day membership discounts.

So, what are you waiting for? There’s a huge range of Membership benefits from discounts at the bar, our amazing sports facilities and depending upon the category of membership – some incredibly competitive membership rates. Well, you know the deal! For families, there are significant discounts if you all join. And I’ll bang the drum for our Junior Membership category. For the under 16’s it’s just £90 for the whole year to include all our sports and the pool too (but not the gym). All membership categories (including the social membership) include access to the pool in the summer months. And provide a tasty 20% off at the bar. For all the tariffs and to sign up… click HERE and to receive those Open Day offers just pop down to the office.

One of the great benefits of Membership, which applies to all categories, is the 20% discount you’ll receive at the bar. As you’ll probably know, my day job is reporting on and discussing the news. We regularly talk about the cost of drinks… At the Club we’re working hard to keep costs down on everything from wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks too. Although you may have read about the £8 pint in some pubs… we’re half that price! And on Thursday nights, a pint of our very own branded lager is just £2. You’ve got to admit, that IS a deal! Do pop down and visit. And please drink responsibly. Yada yada.

LTA U11/U12 Tournament Grade 1 | Next Week

Starting this Saturday, it’s our biggest junior tournament of the year. Apologies in advance as our Club will be busy next week. We’re hosting an LTA Grade 1 U11/U12 tournament event. The benefits to us are significant. Putting Frinton on the tennis map. And financially, it’s very important too for your Club. And there’s always amazing tennis to watch! Please pop down to support these amazing young players. You never know, you may spot the next Andy Murray or Emma Radacanu.

Please note that many of our grass courts won’t be available to Members for play during this event. This week there will be no home league matches played. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause Members.

Please book your courts, if you want to play on the hard courts or see the office for any last minute availability. We always try to free up grass courts when they are available. But please don’t wander down to the Club expecting to play if you’ve not booked ahead!

Michael Lockhart-Smith | Funeral Details

Our great friend and long-standing Club member, Michael Lockhart-Smith passed away last month. As promised, these are the funeral details. We send his family and friends our condolences at this very sad time. Remembering the good times and the considerable support and enthusiasm he had for the Club over many decades.

No Games Night Next Thursday

Due to our club hosting the Grade 1 Tournament, we will not be able to hold our usual Games Night on the 30th. We assure you that activities will resume as normal in June.
