Hello!

I’m stepping in to James’s slot for this week only, pending the division of responsibilities for the new Board.

An informal meeting takes place on Saturday morning to get up and running with the job list.

It was great to see one of the largest ever attendances at the AGM last week. Sorry it dragged on for so long – there were many different votes and proxies to count. Thank you. It means such a lot to those who devote their time to making our Club a better place to be, knowing that the members truly care.

I omitted to mention that I have made an arrangement with the All England Club for James and Adam to attend, play on the grass courts and stay for lunch or dinner as a thank you for both their services. They won’t know until they read this newsletter (if they do!).

Off course the meeting over -ran so it didn’t seem like the right time to mention the legacy project which we have been working on with the kind assistance of Dr Rosy Waddingham.

Never easy to broach the subject of a gift in a will but with Rachel the Accountant reaching into every crevice, it is a tax efficient way of making a gift which would mean so much to the Club, whether for a specific project or otherwise.

More on that to follow but if in the meantime you would be interested in receiving a brochure, please get in touch with the office.

Meantime, let’s get to this week’s news!

Frinton Literary Festival

This week we held the first of the Frinton Lit Fest events with an evening with Greta Sacchi. It was a fabulous night and thankyou to everyone who came down. We’ll be hosting Lisa Jewell tomorrow for what is a sellout lunch! And then we’ll be hosting Ian Dale on 22nd November, tickets are still available from Caxton Books, 55 Connaught Avenue.

Padel & Pickleball Update

If you were at the AGM on Friday, you would have heard David Binns confirm that our planning application for the new Padel and Pickleball courts has been accepted by the council. This doesn’t mean it’s approved, simply the council have accepted our application and it now goes through a Consultation period until 7th November. Hopefully it won’t be too long now until a decision is confirmed and fingers crossed it’ll be approved and we can start work on the courts!

TNT Sports!

There’s only one match this week with Brentwood vs Liverpool on Saturday 25th October. Kick-off is from 8pm.

Gym Bookings

As our gym gets busier it is essential that you, our members are using the booking system for when you are planning to use the gym. We have number restrictions for health and safety requirements and they must be adhered to. The booking link is HERE. Katy will be checking this frequently and completing random checks of the gym to ensure people have booked. Thankyou to those that do book their slots.
