Hello!
Has summer arrived… and already thinking about packing its bags? Who knows. But let’s stay optimistic – especially with our Club Open Day on Saturday 17th May looming large on the horizon (you have etched that date into your diary and your brain, right?). I can only apologise, someone clearly missed the memo about booking sunshine for whole of the bank holiday weekend. So what better way to embrace a blustery day (yes, that’s the forecast) than with a good old-fashioned Roast Sunday Lunch?
Conveniently, we’ve got just that – happening THIS SUNDAY at the Club! It’s the last roast of the season before the Poolside Kitchen opens for summer (spoiler alert: smashed burgers are making their debut in this year’s menu. How very modern).
So! If you fancy roast beef, roast pork, or a cracking veggie option, book your table by MIDNIGHT tonight. Go on – you know you want to.

Right, let’s get to this week’s news!
Bubble
Good news – the Club’s been granted planning permission and given the green light to keep the bubble up year-round. We know there are views on both sides, but the Board felt it made sense – less wear and tear, lower costs, and no loss of covered tennis when summer weather lets us down.A big thank you to David Binns for leading the process. We’ll keep reviewing things to make sure it’s working well for everyone.
Grass Tennis Courts | Update
More good news – Section 4 of the grass courts is now open! Huge thanks to Steve and Craig, who’ve been working their socks off. They’ve also opened up more courts in Sections 2 and 3, so things are shaping up nicely.
Just a reminder: if the nets aren’t up, the courts aren’t playable – please don’t use them. It’s still early in the season, and mornings can be pretty dewy. No play before 10am, and don’t forget the knee test (i.e. if your knee gets wet when you kneel down, the court’s too damp!).
Frinton Ladies | Veterans
Fenella, Clare, Shiho and Tina travelled to Buckhurst Hill Tennis Club last weekend for their first match of the summer league. Despite the long journey, they played some amazing tennis and came away with the win. A great start to the season. Bravo!

Colchester & District | Update
Match updates this week:
We only had one home game this week with Mixed Frinton C playing Mixed David Lloyd B on Tuesday evening. The result ended up a win to David Lloyd B 8-1.
