The new Board convened for its first formal meeting last week, which extended well into the evening due to a full agenda and constructive discussion. Regrettably, this overlapped with Games Night, and we offer our sincere apologies to those affected. We appreciate your understanding and will ensure future scheduling avoids such conflicts.

The Club’s planning application for padel courts continues to move through the formal process. A number of objections have been received from local residents, primarily relating to potential noise impacts. We are in the process of engaging a reputable acoustic consultancy to conduct a Noise Impact Assessment. Once the assessment has been conducted and the report has been submitted, we will update members accordingly.

Further to questions raised by members regarding Resolution 2, passed at the AGM, the Board sought legal advice and were advised that the resolution, proposing that the President hold a casting vote in the event of a tied Board vote, is invalid, as it does not conform with the Club’s Articles of Association. Therefore, it shall not be implemented.

As the Articles require a majority to pass any Board vote, a tied vote among the six directors will not carry, and the motion in question will be deemed not passed

Last weekend saw another enjoyable afternoon of football and rugby on the big screen, courtesy of TNT Sports. The bar was lively once again, and we look forward to more of the same with this weekend’s rugby fixtures.

As ever, should you wish to raise any matters with the Board or contribute to ongoing discussions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Wishing you a pleasant week ahead, and we look forward to seeing you at one of the many upcoming events at the Club.
