Although it has been a slightly quieter week on the events front, there has still been plenty happening around the Club.
First, a huge thank you to Graham Quinton for organising Board members who, alongside several dedicated volunteers, have begun the renovation of the ladies’ bathroom and shower area. This is just a first stage cosmetic upgrade and there is more to come, but it’s a fantastic start. We are also incredibly grateful to those members who have donated materials; your support genuinely makes a difference and every contribution helps.
Looking ahead, don’t forget to sign up for the summer tennis leagues, the Croquet Club Championships, and our first ever Footy Tennis tournament taking place next Tuesday evening. It promises to be great fun, especially as there are St Patrick’s Day offers on as well.
We are still seeking tennis team captains, a fixtures secretary, and enthusiastic members to join the tennis committee and help shape the season ahead. If you’re interested in any of these roles, please email tennis@fosltc.com.
With summer fast approaching, now is the perfect time to get match‑ready. If you’ve not been playing regularly, why not try NEET’s cardio tennis sessions or book a gym demo with Katy. Class details and contact information are available on the website or simply pop into the office for more information.

Ladies Toilets
You may have noticed a couple of our Board members this week armed with paint brushes and rollers! We have been carrying out a “soft” refurbishment of the Ladies’ Toilets in preparation for the summer and have also added a new Ladies’ Changing Room.
The Ladies’ Toilets are now nearly complete, with just a few finishing touches due to be carried out in the middle of next week. The new Ladies’ Changing Room is located on the left-hand side next to the Accessible toilet, and we hope it will provide a quiet and comfortable space for both our members and visitors whenever needed.
Colchester and District Tennis League 2026!
Thank you to those who have already signed up to this year’s league! We will have plenty of teams competing in the Ladies, Men’s and Mixed divisions in the Colchester & District League again this year. If you would like to be considered for one of the teams, there is a sign-up sheet on the tennis board or email tennis@fosltc.com. Teams will be selected at the captains meeting later this month.
Footy Tennis
On Tuesday 17th March, we will be hosting our first ever doubles footy tennis tournament at the Club. It’s a blend of football, tennis and volleyball (without racquets and no hands) played in the service area of the tennis court. Five points, three touches and one bounce. The tournament will start at 7pm, free to enter and open to everyone! Start finding yourself a partner and join us for some fun under the floodlights and hopefully some St. Patrick Day celebrations afterwards. Also, on Tuesday 17th March, we’ll be celebrating St Patrick’s Day!

Croquet Club Championships
Sign-up for the 2026 Croquet Club Championships is now live! Please sign up by Saturday 4th April to be included within the knockout competition. Finals Day will be Saturday 29th August. There are 5 categories this year;

TNT Sports
A little quieter this week! However, on Saturday 14th March, we have a trilogy of Six Nations rugby matches to conclude this year’s tournament with France, Scotland or Ireland still able to take the title. It all kicks off at 2.10pm with Ireland vs Scotland. Followed by Wales vs Italy at 4.40pm. And to finish it off, England play France at 8.10pm.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday we will be showing Champions League football. The fixtures list for TNT is still being confirmed, so please do ask at the bar for further information.
