Hello!
As we head towards the Easter holidays, there’s a lot going on at the Club. From sports to social events, classes, live music and lunch too! All the details are on our website. The opening times for next weekend are set out below. And please don’t forget to book your courts and classes!
Here’s this week’s news;
It’s never good news to have to raise our prices at the bar. Perhaps the good news is that you have until Tuesday to enjoy our lower drinks prices. There’s always a positive spin on everything! Anyway, as previously advised we have had to increase some of our bar prices due to increases in purchase costs. Some of our beer prices will increase but most by no more than 20p per pint for members. We have also been able to hold virtually all of our wine prices at current levels. There will be some increases in our spirit prices. This means that we will continue to offer very competitive bar prices, particularly for our Members. Increases take effect from Tuesday next week.
I’d suggest popping in over the weekend to enjoy before the price rises take effect. I’d also suggest that you should drink responsibly, as I always do! Although tonight is expected to be a busy one with our first sold out band evening. If it all goes well, we’ll be announcing new dates and bands in due course.
Squash
WE ARE CHAMPIONS!
Frinton Squash had their final match of the season against Moreton Hall this week. They were (and still are!) 2nd to us on the table. Monday night’s result saw the team outperform exceptionally strong opponents that were sent to play us to battle for the title. Frinton emerged victorious winning 15-7 and bringing home the title of Division 2 Champions!
Many congratulations to our team!
Meanwhile, squash and racketball is a great way to have fun and get healthy, whatever your age or level of ability. From squash lessons (and we have quite a few) to social sessions – all are available at the Club. Click HERE for more info.

Croquet
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party… A great success!
An Alice in Wonderland-themed to mark the opening of the new croquet lawn for the Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club was a huge success.
It wasn’t all about the lawn though. The event was well attended with over 50 guests, both croquet players and Club members as well as visitors, being present to officially open the new lawn. The Alice theme went down extremely well. A kestrel even joined in the festivities. This particular kestrel has become a bit of a regular with visits most afternoons between 3 and 5pm. It’s rapidly becoming the mascot for our croquet players!
The Alice in Wonderland theme will return on the open day on Saturday May 20th for anyone that missed the fun. Frankly you’d be bonkers not to take part. They do make a very fine baked good. And the game of croquet is both fun, devious and quite a hoot!
Free croquet coaching is available, with new joiners welcome! Get in touch with Richard HERE.
Don’t forget about our Charity One-ball Croquet Competition taking place on Wednesday, 12th April at 12noon! The precise format of the competition will depend on the number of people who enter, but it’s likely to involve playing 3 games in blocks, with the winners of the blocks playing a knock out (a further 2-3 games) to determine the champion. Sign-up sheets are on our croquet board, so please put your name down, it’s going to be a fun afternoon!
