Hello. Happy Easter! Given it’s Good Friday tomorrow, I thought I’d get in a day early with my weekly communication. For those of you who have abstained from eating chocolate – this is the weekend you may gorge yourself on choccy treats. Enjoy (Note to self: do eat responsibly nom nom nom yada etc)! Although I am not sure I’m that keen on some of this year’s trends which include using a Cadbury Creme Egg to make a toasted sandwich or baking one into a brioche. However, moving away from choc chat, we have managed to organise some fairly decent weather for the bank holiday. As you might imagine, our opening hours are slightly different this weekend. They’re set out below.

Meanwhile there’s a lot going on this weekend. We have our Easter Sunday Roast Lunch. It’s fully booked but for last minute availability feel free to get in touch with Rebecca or Karen via the office. The next one is on Sunday 23rd April. A delicious menu has been put together and you can book HERE.

Last weekend saw us experiment with a live band playing at the Club on Friday night. A huge thanks to Marcus and Tom for making this happen and to our team who made sure the event was a super success. We’re putting together plans for more events and will make some announcements in the coming weeks. You can see everything we have on at the Club HERE.

Coronation Weekend

We’ll be planning some events for the weekend. On Bank Holiday Monday, the nation is celebrating with The Big Help Out. And so are we! This provides an excellent opportunity for us to ask for your help to prepare for the summer season ahead. We’ll post details in the coming weeks. Meanwhile please do make a note in your diary for Monday 8th May to pop down to the Club!

Club Open Day

We have a lot planned for the Club’s Open Day. Whether you’re a Member or looking to join or even upgrade your membership to include another sport, this is a great day to see what we have on offer and find out about the other activities you could get involved with. The swimming pool will be open and we’ll be launching our new summer menu for the Poolside Kitchen. It’s a great fun day out and we’d love to see you. We’ll put more details together for you closer to the time but please mark the date in your diary! Saturday 20th May from 11am until 4pm. We’ll also have a range of tournaments and activities with each sport getting involved. Please do sign up for competitions and if you want to help out on the day? Please let us know.

Croquet

There’s still time to sign up for our Charity One-ball Competition, which is taking place on Wednesday 12th April. Please consider taking part, it will be a lovely afternoon and you’ll get the chance to play on our new croquet lawn. Sign-up sheets are up in the foyer. More information about the event HERE.

If you’re reading this and you’re a social or other sporting Member or perhaps not a Member of the Club yet, a game of croquet is a great fun way to spend an afternoon or evening, and is a brilliant way to keep entertained, active and meet new friends. And it’s suitable for all ages and abilities. Our Croquet membership is just £14 a month and includes swimming in our lovely heated pool too during the summer months! No brainer here, please spread the word, any newcomers are welcome to try the game before signing on the dotted line.

More information about our membership options and costs are HERE.

Walking Football

Fun and games for over 50’s males and over 40’s females. It is played along similar lines to five-a-side football but excludes running and physical contact. We play every Monday afternoon, from 2.00pm until 3.30pm on the hard tennis courts and every Wednesday evening (under floodlights) from 7.00pm until 8.30pm, usually followed by a pint or two at our Club bar.

Any newcomers welcome! First week is free of charge and all you need to do is to turn up.
