Hello!

It’s never easy to discuss price rises but this week we set out changes to our subscription rates for the coming year and changes to some of our bar prices too. That said, we do continue to work hard to provide the best sporting and social facilities we can to give you, our Members and visitors, that are great value for money.

Over the past year we have continued with our plan to invest in our sports and facilities whilst working hard to increase our reach, offer and Membership. This year we have introduced pickleball alongside our full range of racket sports, gym, croquet, walking football and social activities. And we continue to add extra benefits to our offer – including for the first time a proposal to include free reciprocal social Membership of Frinton Links, formally known as Frinton Golf Club, for our full sporting Members. Some restrictions will apply and we’ll publicise the full offer once finalised.

The past 12 months have presented a range of economic challenges, shared by the entire hospitality and sports industries. General price increases have been significant and often into double figures. And we face a further increase to the minimum wage of 6.7% and an increase in Employers’ National Insurance. We continue to review our costs, increase activity to minimise the consequential impact on subscription rates by boosting our sponsorship, rental and other income. Nevertheless, this year, we will be increasing the general rate of subscriptions by 7.5%. There will a variance as we continue to equalise certain rates between sports. Most other fees will also increase but we will be leaving bubble and floodlight fees unchanged. Rewards to returning Members, those who pay for the year upfront and for families continue. Members will receive a fuller explanation with details of all the changes. One further change we are proposing is to reward our loyal Members. For the first time, we’ll be introducing free guest passes on 1st April for returning Members with full details to follow shortly.

On to this week’s news.

Bar Prices

Due to cost increases relating to our bar, we’re having to review our prices. Alcohol duty increased on most products on 1st February, there have been general increases in supplier prices and the Club faces significant increases in minimum wage and employer’s NI from 1st April.

These increases necessitate an increase to our prices from 4th March.  We’ve managed to keep many prices at current levels and to keep other increases to a minimum. The Member’s discount has been maintained at 20%.  And that applies to all Membership categories. Details of Membership can be found HERE
