Hello!

Scorchio! The fine weather is back. Which means there’s only one place to be. Yep, The Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club. We’ve got tournaments for you to play, social sessions to join in, comedy this Sunday evening with Pauline Eyre to enjoy, our Poolside Kitchen is OPEN, the pool is splashtastic and the Club is humming and buzzing with social activity! Visitors are welcome. And for Members, it’s discounts at the bar and amazing facilities on your doorstep. Enough of the sales pitch – here’s this week’s news!

Frinton Triangle Tournament

On Sunday, we headed to the Cricket Club for the second event in this year’s series. Despite the unpredictable weather and some rain on the day, play continued. And we WON!

A narrow victory over the Cricket Club secured our second win of the tournament. Huge thanks to everyone who played, and to Tom Philpot and David Binns for organising.

The final leg of the tournament will take place at Frinton Links Golf Club on Sunday, 20th July. If you’re around, keen to take part and know one end of a golf bat from the other…  please do sign up! Spectators will be very welcome and as it’s the final – it should be a very fun day. This year’s trophy will be awarded, and raffle will be drawn.

Special thanks to Gerry Howe and all at SPL for once again sponsoring this fantastic event. There are also raffle tickets available to buy to raise money for Market Field College. It’s £3 a ticket or £10 for a book of 5 tickets! They’re available at the bar and will be drawn on Sunday 20th July. The top prize is Summer Getaway at Talbooth House and Spa for Two; Including overnight stay, glass of rose, three-course dinner and breakfast!!

Sponsorship | Progress

A huge thank you to all our 2025 sponsors! We’re incredibly grateful for your support and hope the recent improvements continue to benefit the Club as we grow and evolve.

Even the wildlife approves. We had a loveliness of ladybirds visiting the Club this week, both on and off the courts, showing some love for the sponsor signs!

We still have opportunities available for sponsorship at both Club and individual sport levels. If you or someone you know, or a business, might be interested in supporting the Club, please get in touch: rebecca@fosltc.com

Frinton Juniors Star in Squash Junior Open

Frinton Junior Academy players Matthew Hamer and Ed Welham (pictured) delivered impressive performances at our Junior Squash Open, held at the Club on 5th July. The event followed a two-stage, one-day group format and featured strong competition from county-level junior players from Suffolk and Norfolk.

Matthew put in a spirited performance against Norfolk’s U13 county No.1, Theo Witt-Vermeulen. He came close to taking a game and was rewarded for his efforts with a bronze medal for third place.

Ed also impressed in his first England Squash event, winning the U11 category in fine style.

Prizes were kindly provided by Club Coach Chris Vine.

We hope this experience inspires both players to go even further — and who knows, maybe even represent Essex one day!
