Hello!
Summer is in full swing and we’re gearing up for our ITF Masters Tournament that begins on Monday 30th June. This year we have plenty of our Members playing – including Marcus Eatherton, George Moxon, Elliot Ball, Richard Williams, Foelan Harold, Melvin Lee and Clive Allenby. Why not pop down to cheer them on and watch some great tennis being played!
With a tournament on, it’s essential that you book your courts if you want to guarantee to get your game. Either online OR via the office.
Let’s get to this week’s news.
Refurbished Gym Flooring!
The newly refurbished fitness studio floor has been a great success! Our gym committee did a fantastic job to raise the funds to repair and sand the floor. The generosity of Club members, their friends and family who supported the fundraising coffee morning is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We’re not talking banging dance tunes – nope, it’s Club tennis! Tennis players of all standards are welcome to come along! We’ve just launched the first session which was a lot of fun and we’ll be back next Thursday. We’ve replaced the existing sessions, with each group having their own section on the grass. Matching players of similar abilities to play together. Session starts at 6pm. If you interested in joining please email tennis@fosltc.com and we’ll email you all the details. We have a fancy app that will get you involved and here’s all the details you need to know HERE. So come on down, play some tennis, have some fun and meet your fellow Club members for a sporty and social evening!

Tennis Magazin |Visit
This week we were delighted to welcome Dietmar Gessner from the German publication ‘Tennis Magazin’ Tasked by their sponsor, Porsche, to travel around the UK to find the country’s best grass court tennis clubs. And we were on their list! What a job, eh? It was a delight to meet Dietmar and his photographer, Olly and we hope we’ll see some visitors to our Club from overseas in the future!

Pizza Night | Thursday 3rd July
Crispy, freshly made, piping hot and delicious! Our next pizza date is Thursday 3rd July from 6pm onwards. Pre-orders are always advised as we often sell out. When it’s gone. It’s gone! Simply reserve your spot to then choose toppings and pay on the evening by texting 07498 744745 – Nom!
Club Championships
Are you signed up for this year’s competition? If so, we’ve already had a couple of the first games played for this year’s Club Championships! Please do make sure you note the ‘play by’ dates, and if you need a hand contacting your opponent please enquire at the office. Please make a note in your diary for our Club Finals day which will be held on Saturday 6th September.
Frinton Triangle Tournament | 2025
The opening matches for this year’s inter-club competition were held at the Tennis Club last Sunday, with both the Tennis and Croquet teams in action. Despite a few looming clouds, we were able to play on grass, and all 12 scheduled tennis matches went ahead.
There was some excellent tennis throughout the afternoon. Final scores: Tennis 7, Golf 3, and Cricket 2. Over on the croquet lawn, despite a late arrival from the Cricket Club (I think they were in the bar!), all matches were completed. Final scores: Tennis 3, Cricket 2, and Golf 1.
A big thank you to everyone who represented our Club, and especially to David Binns for organising the tennis and to Jill Wright and Sally Perry for organising croquet on the day and to Tom Philpot who has been coordinating the Triangle Tournament for the Club. Certainly for the croquet, for the majority, it was their first competition. A thank you from our organisers for the engagement from all the clubs’ supporters. Many had never seen croquet played before, a fun new experience!
We’re also hugely grateful to Gerry Howe and everyone at SPL for once again sponsoring this fantastic event.
Next stop, Frinton Cricket Club will be hosting on Sunday 6th July, followed by Frinton Links Golf Club on Sunday 20th July. Can you play cricket or golf? We want you! Please sign up for any of the events, remembering, you can only represent one club!

Colchester & District | Update
This week we held 2 home matches, with our Mixed A team playing Monday night against Wivenhoe A. The result was very close but unfortunately Wivenhoe just took it 5 – 4.
On Tuesday night, our Men’s B played Colchester Officer’s Club A and it ended a 6-3 win to our Men’s B team.
And tonight, our Mixed A team is away at Wivenhoe, Good Luck!
Please feel free to come down and support, matches are due to start at 6.30pm weather permitting.
Next week, our ITF Masters tournament starts so there won’t be any home games.
