Hello!
A warm welcome to those who’ve recently joined the Club, and a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Day last Saturday. Huge thanks also go to our fantastic team for making the day run so smoothly, and to our brilliant groundsmen, Steve and Craig, for preparing the grass courts and croquet lawn to absolute perfection!
We’re also grateful to all of you who helped spread the word. If you’ve been thinking about joining but just need a little nudge, our Open Day offers are still available until close of business this Saturday. Simply get in touch to register your interest.
When the sun shines, our Club really comes alive – and it was wonderful to see it so vibrant last weekend. It’s a perfect start to our summer season! With more sunshine forecast this evening, it’s great timing: Pizza is back from 6pm tonight– more details below.

Now, on to this week’s news!
Grass Courts | Note from the Groundsman
Unfortunately, we’ve had an issue with stones being thrown onto the grass courts. This poses a health and safety risk to players and can also damage the machinery used to maintain our courts. If you’re visiting with children, please ensure you keep them under your watchful eye and ensure they do not go onto the courts, unless they are playing tennis and accompanied by a responsible adult.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sponsorship | Update
A huge thank you to all our 2025 sponsors! Our new car park sponsor boards are now up – and don’t they look fantastic? And take a look at our courts! We’re especially grateful to SPL for sponsoring our new net signage, which will be in place throughout the summer.
There’s still an opportunity to sponsor the fencing opposite Court 1. If you know of anyone who might be interested in supporting the Club, please get in touch at rebecca@fosltc.com.

Tennis | Social Sessions
Starting on Tuesday 27th May at 12pm – 1.30pm, a member of the Tennis Committee will be hosting our Tuesday Tennis Social sessions on Courts 13 and 14. Players of all abilities are welcome to join for fun and competitive play. Simply turn up on the day.
Please note: sessions may be cancelled in the event of bad weather if the bubble is unavailable.
Grade 1 Tournament Returns
We’re proud to be hosting the prestigious LTA Grade 1 tournament once again, featuring the top Under-11 tennis players from across the country. The event runs from Saturday 24th to Thursday 29th May. Courts 13–16 will remain available to members, weather permitting. In the event of poor weather, tournament play will take precedence on the hard courts and in the bubble. In the unfortunate event of poor weather, we know that it will be frustrating if you are unable to book a court; therefore, we do appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the tournament.
To help ensure court availability during the day, please remember to book in advance, either online or via the office.
Bubble | Update and Use
As mentioned in recent newsletters, we’re pleased to confirm that planning permission has been granted for the bubble to remain up year-round. This means it will now be available for booking during the summer months in the event of poor weather. The cost has been reduced to £3.00 per half hour at any time of day. Please continue to book as usual through the online booking system. And please also ensure that children are not left unattended in or near the bubble.
Junior Tennis | Talent ID Day
We’re pleased to share an exciting opportunity from Essex Tennis, supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association). They are running FREE Talent ID Day sessions across the County during May, June and July, aimed at enthusiastic children born in 2019 or 2020.

Frinton Triangle Tournament Returns!
We’re excited to welcome back the Frinton Triangle Tournament this year! Once again, a huge thank you to Gerry Howe from SPL who are sponsoring the tournament. We came close to victory last time, just missing out to the Cricket Club—so let’s see if we can bring the trophy home in 2025!
The tournament kicks off at our Club on Saturday 22nd June with Tennis and Croquet. The sign-up sheet is now on the tennis noticeboard.
We’ll then head to the Cricket Club on 6th July, followed by Golf on 20th July.
Feel free to sign up for any of the events—but remember, you can only represent one club throughout the tournament!
