Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Club’s recent activities. While the Halloween movie marathon didn’t quite draw the crowds we hoped for, the atmosphere at the bar was buzzing on Saturday afternoon for the rugby on TNT and Thursday’s games night.

As we move further into November, the Club is keen to build on this momentum. We’re working hard behind the scenes to deliver a calendar of events that brings members, guests, and visitors together, whether you’re here for sport, socialising, or simply a drink and good conversation.

We want the Club to be a place where everyone feels welcome and involved. Whether you’re a long-standing member or just popping in, your presence makes a huge difference. If you’ve not attended an event recently, now’s the time to reconnect.

The Board’s contact details are now live on the website. If you have any suggestions, ideas, feedback, questions, or even just to say hello, we would love to hear from you.

Let’s make this autumn one to remember and see you at the Club!

What’s happening at FOSLTC!

In Memory of Ken Bate

Many of you will already have heard the sad news of the passing of Ken Bate, who died peacefully at home, aged 91.

After retiring to Frinton in 1995, Ken became a much-loved regular at the club, taking part in countless leagues and competitions. Over the course of his life, he proudly represented Surrey, Wales, England, and Great Britain, and remained devoted to the game to the very end.

Known for his oversized, loosely strung racket, sneaky drop shots, spirited calls of “Leave it!”, and infectious laughter, Ken brought both skill and joy to every match. His passion for tennis inspired generations — especially his daughter Debbie and granddaughter Ellen.

Debbie, her brother Howard, and Ellen warmly invite all who knew Ken to join them in celebrating his life at Weeley Crematorium on Tuesday 25th November at 3:30pm, and afterwards back at Frinton Tennis Club from 4:30pm to raise a glass and share happy memories.

TNT Sports!

This Saturday, 8th November, there is another feast of sport on the TV at the Club. In rugby union, the autumn series continues, but before that there is an afternoon Premier League match.

The action kicks off with Tottenham Hotspur vs Man United in the Premier league at 12.30pm. Then we turn for a double-header of rugby union. Scotland take on New Zealand at 3.10pm and then England take on Fiji, kick-off 5.40pm.
