It looks like the weather is going to improve in the coming days. So that’s a blessing for all! The grass courts playing really well this year, there’s plenty of activity at the Club and our bar is open too with a wide range of drinks and snacks – FOS|LTC is the place to visit! If you’d like to eat at the Club – the Poolside Kitchen is open generally at weekends and during the week when we have a tournament on, until the summer holidays when we’ll be open throughout the summer. To plan ahead – have a look HERE to see the opening times.
The Queen’s Club Tennis Tournament starts next week and for the first time since 1973, the Men’s week is followed by a week of Women’s tennis. The lineup is epic, and we’ll be showing the matches on our big screen at the Club.

Poolside Kitchen | Friday Evening
Tonight! Friday 6th June our Poolside kitchen will be open from 3pm until 8.30pm. Chef will be running his usual menu, and we have a Friday Special! It’s his legendary Fish & Chips. Available from 6pm! Only £12.50 – Bargain! With limited availability, we recommend pre-ordering to avoid disappointment, email events@fosltc.com

Frinton Squash Juniors | Results
On Tuesday 27th May, during the May half-term, 25 junior squash players (U9–U13) from Lexden, Mersea, Felsted School, and Frinton competed in the North Essex Development Tournament held at the Club.
There were some impressive performances throughout the day. Frinton brothers Matthew and Marcus Hamer delivered standout displays, each securing first and second place in their respective age groups with excellent technique and smart tactical play. Also representing Frinton, Harvey Hodgson achieved an impressive 4th place finish in a group of ten—especially notable as he had recently moved up an age group. Jack Morris, a regular at the NESA training sessions, played some high-quality squash to earn a well-deserved 5th place.
The event was expertly organised by Sally Meanley, a member of the Essex Junior Squash Committee. Matches were marked by Chris Vine and Ellie Barrott, who also presented the prizes.
Our next England Squash-sanctioned junior tournament at Frinton takes place on Saturday 5th July—spectators are very welcome!

Junior Tennis Talent ID Day | Saturday 14th June
We’re pleased to share an exciting opportunity from Essex Tennis, supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association). They are running FREE Talent ID Day sessions across the County during May, June and July, aimed at enthusiastic children born in 2019 or 2020.
These are fun, friendly taster sessions designed to introduce children to tennis through games, movement, and play — no experience necessary and all equipment is provided.

Club Championships
The draws are up ready for this year’s Club Championships! Please do make sure you make a note of the play by dates, and if you need a hand contacting your opponent please do ask at the office. Please put a note in your diary – The finals will be held at the Club on Saturday 6th September!
Frinton Triangle Tournament
We’re excited to announce the return of the Frinton Triangle Tournament this year! We narrowly missed out on first place to the Cricket Club last year—so let’s see if we can bring the trophy back home!
The tournament kicks off at our Club on Sunday 22nd June with Tennis and Croquet. The sign-up sheet is now up on the tennis noticeboard.
We then head to the Cricket Club on 6th July, followed by Golf on 20th July.
Feel free to sign up for any of the events, remembering that you can only represent one club throughout the tournament!
Colchester & District | Update
It was a busy week for our tennis teams, with two home matches and four away fixtures.
On Monday, our Ladies A team travelled to play Wivenhoe A. Despite only being able to field two pairs, they held their own and won two sets. However, Wivenhoe came away with a 7–2 victory.
Also on Monday, our Men’s C team hosted Dedham B. It was a closely contested match with some lengthy tie-breaks, but Dedham edged the win 5–4.
Tuesday saw just one match, with our Men’s A team heading away to Spring Lane. They had some fabulous games and won 9-0.
Wednesday was a rest day for all teams.
On Thursday, we had two away matches: the Men’s B team faced David Lloyd, while the Men’s D team played Kirby.
Tonight (Friday), our Ladies B team are at home to Lexden Hill A. Spectators are very welcome! The Poolside Kitchen is open until 8:30pm, and the bar will be serving drinks—come along and support the team!
