Hello!
It really has been a busy week. For the third time, our Club has hosted the prestigious Grade 1 LTA Tournament for the best 11U players in the country. We’ve seen some amazing tennis. Navigated the weather which mostly behaved itself and hosted a hugely successful tournament. A big thanks to Graeme Luckin and the whole LTA team who have run the tournament with precision and professionalism. And to our grounds team, Steve and Craig who ensured our courts were playing superbly. And of course to all our staff who have been rushed off their feet, serving at the bar, managing the office, creating social and digital content whilst ensuring day-to-day operations continue as normal. Meanwhile the Poolside Kitchen has been very busy indeed. Arguably we now serve the best burger in the town! Be the judge yourself. You may just have to pop down to try it or indeed many of the other options including salads, sandwiches and a range of other tasty hot and cold food. A big thanks to Chef and his team too.

Hola España | New Lager
Please welcome, Mahou to our bar line-up. We’re excited to announce a new lager on draught is now available. We hope you’ll agree, it’s a tasty Spanish lager and the pricing is competitive. Thanks to our suppliers, for Members it’s £4.40 a pint and for non-Members it’s £5.50. Whilst I always recommend you drink responsibly, having given it a try, all in the name of my responsibilities, it’s a fabulous addition to our range so I’d suggest you pop down for a cheeky pint!
Junior Tennis Talent ID Day | Saturday 14th June
We’re pleased to share an exciting opportunity from Essex Tennis, supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association). They are running FREE Talent ID Day sessions across the County during May, June and July, aimed at enthusiastic children born in 2019 or 2020.
These are fun, friendly taster sessions designed to introduce children to tennis through games, movement, and play — no experience necessary and all equipment is provided.

Frinton Triangle Tournament
It’s back for another year! The return of the Frinton Triangle Tournament. We just missed out on 1st place last year to the Cricket Club so let’s see if we can get the trophy back! The tournament kicks off with us hosting at the Club on Sunday 22nd June with Tennis and Croquet. The sign-up sheet is on the tennis board. We then head to the Cricket Club on Sunday 6th July and to Frinton Links for Golf on Sunday 20th July. Please sign up for any of the events but remember, you can only represent one club!
Colchester and District update
We haven’t hosted any home matches this week because of the Grade 1 Tournament. However, our teams have still been busy and we’ve got 2 away matches this week.
Thursday saw our Mixed B team play away at Lexden R&F. The game ended 9-0 to Frinton!
And tonight our Mixed D team plays away to Spring Lane.
Next week, our home matches are back with Frinton Men’s C vs Dedham B on Monday 2nd June. And on Friday 6th June, Frinton Ladies B take on Lexden Hill A.

Frinton Jazz Club | Polly Gibbons
The next gig at the Club will be on Sunday 27th July at 1.30pm. These events always sell out so I thought I’d let you know about this before they do! Twice nominated as Best Jazz Vocalist by Jazz FM and the BBC Jazz Awards, this is going to be another amazing gig with Polly playing alongside Derek and his band. And it’s at your Club. I’ll end with some personal news.
I’m deeply honoured to share that I have been elected as the next President of the Royal Albert Hall. To serve such a historic and iconic institution – one that has been at the heart of the UK’s cultural life for over 150 years – is both a privilege and a responsibility I take to heart. Having been on their governing Council and a trustee since 2012, it’s an institution I know well and I expect to continue my role here at your Club.
Meanwhile, let’s hope the weather gets back to being summer. There’s plenty to be enjoyed at our Club. From classes, to social sessions, sporting activities, coaching and simply socialising. Summer 2025 has got off to a wonderful start. Do pop down and see us soon and please remember to book your courts and classes.
