Hello!

What a glorious week. As our summer season gets underway, there’s plenty to keep you entertained at the Club. And here’s what’s going on…

Tennis

Let’s start with tomorrow’s ‘open’ tournament. Despite a slightly dodgy weather forecast, this is going ahead! If you fancy a smashing time and want to volley yourself into a fun competition, then head down to the Club for a 9.30am start as late entries will be accepted.

Tournaments – competition week… 

LTA County Week is drawing to a close with Northamptonshire winning the Group 7 competition.  Suffolk and Devon are fighting for second place and the chance of promotion to Group 6 alongside Northamptonshire.  It’s been a lot of fun with some fantastic matches played.

And some terrific news… Floodlighting work to install the new LED lights on Courts A & B gets underway next Monday. This means that Hard Courts A – E will be out of action for two weeks. However, if you wish to play on Courts C – E during this period please check the booking system as some of these courts may be made available.

Food

With the weather being so good, it’s been great to see you all enjoy the Poolside Kitchen. For next week’s opening hours, click here! And we are still looking to provide a weekend service too for ice-cream and sandwiches. If you do know anyone who fancies a bit of weekend cooking? Be in touch! Chef will be back in September and we hope a more normalised service with social offers will be offered then. Meantime, this weekend we will once again have a range of sandwiches and substantial snacks available to purchase at the bar. Enjoy!

Membership

We are delighted so many new members have joined the Club. And that our summer memberships have been well received and taken up too. Please do continue to spread the message. Our Club is as good as you make it and the more Members, the more viable we become! If you or your family and friends are looking for temporary membership, click here!

Diary

Please can you put the evening of Friday 15th October in your diaries… that’s the date we have set for the Club’s AGM. We’ll post details of the proposals for nominations and election to the Board and Committee.

Roof

As you know we have been working on a plan for the renovation of the Club’s iconic thatched roof. We are making good progress with our plans for the works and a funding strategy which we’ll bring to you soon. 

Pool

The booking system seems to be working well. Please only book one slot per day per family. We know it’s in big demand but this seems to be the fairest way to operate the system when we have such high demand. If there are spare slots, then at the discretion of the Club Manager, this may be a possibility… but please don’t block book with friends to rotate and bagsy the pool area! We’d also ask that children are asked not to run through the clubhouse when wet and that exuberant playtime is away from the tennis courts so as not to upset or disturb other Members.

Other sports. Of course croquet, squash, walking football our gym and the classes all continue. Details on our website or via the office!
