Hello!

Such a lot going on it’s hard to keep up. Which is why we do this weekly newsletter! Here’s this week’s update of everything that’s going on.

Club Tennis

We are often asked about Club Tennis and how to make it more lively. Here’s how! Club sessions are ready for a revival and with that in mind David Wood has kindly offered to grab the Saturday session by the horns!  Until the end of August, he will be hosting the 3pm (prompt start) session for any members who would like to join in. Please come along and give it a try. It’s a great way to meet other members and have a game.  And if you fancy running a Club Tennis Session during the week, please get in touch with Victoria Kunzer or Kim via the office.

Good News!

The works to replace the floodlights for the bubble courts has been completed. On time. And on budget. Many thanks to Clive Allenby for driving this project through and let’s hope that when the bubble returns, so our issues with the lights will have been resolved! And of course thanks MUST go to all of you who kindly supported our fundraising efforts to make this happen. THANK YOU!

Roof

We have been working out how best to repair our thatched roof. It hasn’t been touched for 25 years and is in URGENT need of refurbishment. You’ll also possibly be tired of me asking you for money.

So, how about a compromise?

We’d like to try an experiment to see how much we can raise in another way…. If it works, we won’t need to ask you for ANY money directly… How? IF you sign up for EasyFundraising. So far, nearly a hundred of you HAVE signed up (thank you!). And we have raised nearly £1,000 without any of you handing so much of a penny to us. IT’S FREE MONEY. Here’s how it works… Big companies want to give to charities of your choice. The Club qualifies because we are a Community Amateur Sports Club, CASC. If you have an account at EasyFundraising and go via their website to make your internet purchases (a holiday, insurance, weekly shop, even a filthy takewaway!) EVERY purchase will rack up a donation. Flights, summer holidays and big ticket items are just as effective as smaller ones too and there are over 4000 retailers and big names signed up. From John Lewis, to M&S, to Just Eat and and and… Please PLEASE sign up and we will ensure that ALL the money raised via this fundraising effort WILL go towards refurbishing our roof. Behind the scenes we are making progress on match funding. However we all need to work together to make this happen. OVER TO YOU!

Here’s the link to sign up to EasyFundraising – it really won’t take you long to sign up and remember pretty much EVERY internet transaction you do with any one of those retailers will qualify. And if you have already signed up, please don’t forget to link up via the EasyFundraising website to make sure your purchases are captured.  We’ll keep you posted (Blue Peter style) with a totalizer!

 Frinton Summer Theatre

As you know we have been working with Clive Brill and his team to bring the Summer Theatre alive! It’s so good to have live performances back and as you also may know we have two events we are hosting at the Tennis Club. On Sunday 8th – Salsa the Night Away and on Sunday 15th – We are delighted to welcome back ‘Don’t Freak Out’ & ‘The Jazz Slayers’… these events will be super fun and seriously? BOOK NOW as tickets are selling fast.

Of course the season runs from now until the end of August and there’s sure to be a show for you to enjoy and one last thing… we were due to host the Comedy Night at the Club but scheduling difficulties means it’s now going to be at the McGrigor Hall on Sunday 1st August at 7.30 pm. The headliner is Noel James – star of Britain’s Got Talent with guests Joe Bor and Maureen Younger with more names to come… All the details are on the FST website www.frintonsummertheatre.org Please do take a moment to look at the flyers below for everything that’s going on. We are so fortunate to have all of this high quality music and entertainment on our doorsteps. Do book something. Who knows, you may even enjoy yourself!

 Gym

As you will have seen from Katy’s note this week, the zircon is back and working! And we are sticking with our booking system to make the gym experience as good as it can be for all of you. Please continue to book and look after the gym leaving kit as you would like to find it. Similarly, don’t forget we have some amazing classes and sessions on offer. Do take advantage and book now.

Pool

With the weather being so variable the pool has been getting very busy when the sun decides to pop out to see us. Do continue to book, and please… just one session per day per family/child and let’s avoid wet children running through the Clubhouse!

Membership

Don’t forget that you can bring guests to the Club. They must be signed in by you as a Member and if they are playing tennis, you must pay a guest fee. Guests are welcome three times a year. If your guests are here for the week? why not get them temporary guest membership. You can do so here…

That’s it for now. Have a fabulous week!
