Hello!
The sun is back shining again and as we recover from the Jubilee celebrations and reflect on our first Grade 1 Tournament hosted at the Club – there’s a lot of work to do as we head towards our summer season! But our Summer 2022 Season has got off to an amazing start!
Father’s Day
On Sunday 19th June we will be holding our last Roast Sunday Lunch until September… and it’s a special one! Celebrating Father’s Day, Chef has put together a rather tasty and epic menu! We’re booking up fast and whether you’re up for celebrating the day or just fancy a really delicious Sunday Lunch at the Club. Book NOW to avoid disappointment!
Aquarobics
If you ever wondered whether it was possible to undertake a fun exercise fitness class in a swimming pool, wonder no more! Our first aquarobics class did really well – and we’re nearly at full capacity – only two spaces available for next week, so be quick and book now! It’s a real hoot AND it’s great exercise too! Book Here
Summer Visitors
If you have family or friends visiting this summer – guest passes are available from the office! Summer at the club is always great fun and we’d be pleased to welcome you and your family and friends! Click here for more info.
Midsummer bash
Whether you have recently joined the Club OR you simply fancy popping down for a super night out… please put Friday 24th June in your diary! It’s free entry! We’ll have a DJ spinning the wheels of steel to play your favourite tracks, our Poolside Kitchen will be open and we’ll have some special offers available.
Grade 1 Tournament
Our LTA Tournament was a great success – Our competitors, their families and coaches and the LTA were very complimentary about our courts (Thank you Steve and Jake!) and services (Well done Mark, Mel, Jonathan in the bar and Paul, Liz and Simon in the Poolside Kitchen). Everyone had a great time and is hoping to come back. We’ll keep you posted on our progress to bring higher quality events and tournaments to our Club. Our thanks must also go to the LTA for their wonderful organisation and team. And to Colin Minter and David from our pro-Shop who were on hand throughout the week providing a huge amount of support and assistance. And to our wonderful Club Manager Kim who managed the whole tournaments superbly! Thank you!
Talking of Tounaments… here’s another note for your diaries
British Tour – 20th to 25th June 2022
The British Tour is a tennis circuit for professional players wanting to compete on home soil, young stars with ambitions of going pro in the future. It’s also for national level players who still compete at a high level – in other words, the very best of British tennis!
With approximately 30 British Tour events each year, players climb up and down the leader board depending on their results. Whoever sits top at
the end of the year is crowned the British Tour Bonus Pool champion.
Frinton is hosting a Tier 2 Tournament.
There are limited courts available for the week but it is still important to book. Additional courts may become available particularly towards the end of the week. Any problems? Please speak with Kim in the office. And you can book your court here.
Italy Uncorked – Friday 8th July
Not booked your ticket(s) yet? They’re selling fast! Our resident wine writer Steve Pryor will be on hand to guide us through some amazing wines. And they’ll be paired with a fantastic feast created by our Chef! Book here
Mugs
Obviously I love a cheeky pose. And how better than with your very own Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club mug?! Printed with our beautiful Club colours – they’re a ‘must have’ item for homes, gifts or in my case? Beach Hut! Get yours by popping into the office to purchase… and we still have some beach towels and sports towels available to purchase.
Clothing
You’ll probably have seen our Club clothing range. Not on a rail but on our Members! If you’ve not made an order yet – we have a wide range of kit available to purchase and it will be delivered to your door. Click here for more details
• There’s a 10% discount for members off the RRP. MEMBER10 is the code to use.
• Free postage for any orders over £50
• Delivery 2 to 4 business days – still enough time to get your Father’s day present!
And if you have any suggestions or requirements – please get in touch with Kat (katerina@fosltc.com)
Sports
There’s plenty going on across the Club from competitions to training classes, coaching and events – ALL the details may be found on our website – so please don’t miss out! But please DO book for whatever you are want to play. It will save you the aggro of being turfed (see what I did there?) off a court or finding there’s no space to play. We’d re doing all we can to make sure our Club’s facilities are the best in the locality and availabel for you, our Members, to use and enjoy.
Made it this far?
Well done. Have a biscuit! There is a distant possibility that as a result of my absence next week, our Treasurer Clive Allenby will hijack this newsletter to tell you about some fantastic events we have coming up over the summer and the fundraising activities we are planning too as we pursue the money required to fix our roof! And it’s to Clive and our whole team who presented the Club so effectively at the Jubilee event in Connaught Avenue. The place was heaving!
I am sure there’s a whole bunch of other things going on too – so please do book yourselves in! We have booked some fab weather for you next week. Please do come and visit. Please do book your courts (and make sure you wear the appropriate grass court shoes and recognised kit if you’re on court!) – And we hope that there’s something for everyone at our Club so please do continue to spread the word!
