Hello!

It may be windy but at least the sun has been shining and Spring is doing its thing. The courts are beginning to look amazing – there’s a lot of work going on by our head groundsman, Steve and his trusty sidekick, Jake to make sure they’ll be ready for us to play on from mid-May. We’ll update you on the exact dates that we’ll be opening the courts in due course.

Meanwhile to this evening. It’s time for Bingo! And a curry with some ridiculous prizes on offer. We have pretty much sold out but there may be a few spaces available if you fancy joining in. It’s just £13 a head! Doors open at 6.30pm and it’s eyes down at 7pm tonight!

Please do make a note in your diary that our Club’s open day will be on Saturday 21st May. It will be your chance to pop down to the Club, see our new branded merchandise for the first time as well as experience everything the Club has to offer and sample the brand new summer Poolside Kitchen menu. Why not bring down family and friends as we continue to encourage new Members to join us! More details soon. Meanwhile, we are still looking for volunteers to help with delivering our Open Day leaflets. Can you spare some time to take a few leaflets to drop into letterboxes up your street? If so, please contact Kat ( katerina@fosltc.com) if you’d like to help out.

Looking ahead we have a special fine dining and wine paired dinner on Friday 8th July and a special Club fundraising day being organised for Saturday 30th July.

Tennis
Tennis is a sport that we all love to watch. Why wait for it to turn up on the telly when you can watch live tennis at our Club?

There are a range of competitions and dates. All spectators are welcome – and the bar will be open as usual! All matches start at 6:30pm

See the attached match schedule HERE.

We are still on the look out for the new Mixed E captain, should you be interested please let us know!

Talking of tennis and indeed all of the sports on offer at the Club, why not start a new hobby? Picking up a new sport is a great way of giving yourself a new challenge and to make new friends!

Get in touch with our coaches and they’ll be able to help you to get started!

Swimming Pool
Our outdoor heated swimming pool will reopen in time for the Club’s Open Day. Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club is looking for a relief lifeguard to cover days off/holidays/illness – must have the NPLQ qualification – £9 per hour – please contact Kim Willetts, 01255 674055 or kim@fosltc.com for details.

Staff
If you know someone who might be interested in helping out for our increasingly busy events – we are on the lookout for people to help with our waiting and hospitality side of the Club’s activities. If you know of someone who’s up for helping out and they’d like to apply to be on our roster? It could be a good way to earn some cash over the summer season. If you (or one of your children, family friends or neighbours) are interested? Please do get in touch with Glenys ( glenys@fosltc.com) .

Bar
We’ve been rather busy lately but we still have a few bottles of Busi Jacobsohn, the fine English sparkling wine available at below RRP behind the bar. And our usual array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Don’t forget to bring your Membership Card to receive your Member’s discount! Mark, Jonathan and Mel have been doing an amazing job to ensure you’re well looked after, so why not pop down this weekend for a cheeky sharpener?!

In other news, the Board has been planning ahead and we have a significant number of initiatives underway. Planning for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, events at the Club, our catering offer, tournament season, getting our new Club’s merchandise ready to launch (we’re nearly there!) and of course making sure the Club and all our facilities are ready for the Summer Season. And that includes all our sports and gym classes too, with some brand new activities on the way. We’ll be updating you in the coming weeks.

Sponsorship
We are still looking for new corporate sponsors for the Club. If you or the company you work for are interested in sponsoring a court, a renovation project, a particular part of the Club or supporting a particular sport or event, please do get in touch. We’re always happy to hear from you!

That’s it for now.

Have a great week!

James Max
Club Chairman
