Hello! Good weather is returning and so are our grass tennis courts! Exciting times ahead as the spring and summer season for 2023 gets underway.

Plenty to update you on so please do read this week’s newsletter! As if you don’t usually, of course, from beginning to end. Thanks must go to our whole team who excelled over the Coronation Bank Holiday weekend. The Club looked amazing and our formal tea was epic. We are looking into holding some more tea-based events over the summer. Mmmmm cake! Right onto this week’s news.

Grass Tennis Courts

We had intended to open the courts today. However the weather has had other ideas. They are all ready to go and some nets will go up during today as we expect good weather over the weekend. We will be conducting a test on the courts tomorrow and Sunday to see if the courts are playable – and if so you’ll be welcome. But please do not use them if they’re deemed too wet. As ever, please do book all courts. If the net isn’t up the court isn’t available for play. Our rules are straightforward but please do observe them in terms of booking, clothing (in particular appropriate grass friendly court shoes and recognised tennis clothing on court) and if playing with visitors, they must be signed in and pay the non-member fees. A huge thanks to Steve and Craig who have been working overtime to get them ready for play.

We are looking for volunteers to put up the court wind screens for our grass courts. This needs to be done next week on Friday, so anyone interested in helping please be at the club by 11:30am, thank you!

Padel

We have been given the opportunity to pay and play at the Game4Padel courts in Ipswich. Perhaps you’d like to try out this fast-growing sport? To gauge interest, please contact Bill if you’d like to be included in our plans, mobile 07807 258246 or email billgreeno358@btinternet.com.

Club Open Day | Saturday 20th May 11am – 4pm

This is one of the most important occasions of our year. Ensuring we attract new Members to our Club is really important. And this is where you come in. The event will be held on Saturday 20th May from 11am until 4pm. We have such a lot going on – for every sport and activity – so whatever type of Membership you have… it’s a wonderful opportunity to see what else is on offer. Please do come and visit. Even more importantly please do tell your friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues too.

A schedule of the day’s events is posted HERE.

We hope the weather will hold but more importantly we need your help!

* In the run up to the event – we have leaflets. If you could please take a few to pop through neighbours’ doors.

* Please tell your friends, family, colleagues and anyone you bump into!

* Do share our posts on the socials.

* We are looking for volunteers on the day. Is that you? Could you help show prospective members around the Club? Be part of our welcoming committee?

If you are able – please do volunteer by getting in touch with Rebecca who’s coordinating the day for us. rebecca@fosltc.com

Club Updates

Works | The thatched roof works have been completed and so have the works to provide a disabled WC facility. Our huge thanks to our master thatchers and to Martin Clift and his team. Come and see what they’ve been up to.

Thank you | Thanks to all those who helped to spruce up the Club for the Big Help. We got a lot of painting, cleaning and sweeping done!

Trophy Cabinet | We are currently building a trophy cabinet that should be installed in time for Open Day.

Water | You have asked for a proper water dispenser. And we have one on the way. It will be installed very soon in the main hallway.

Shop | As the summer season approaches don’t forget that David has his wonderful shop with a wide array of sporting goods, clothing and racket stringing services too. And some of our FOS|LTC. clothing range is available if you want it NOW.

I’d better stop before you get information overload. Do pop and see us. Have a great week.
