Hello!

Storm Eunice is blowing her way through but at the time of writing, so far damage is limited. Let’s hope it stays that way! Anyway, with half-term underway we’ve been busy at the Club and there’s plenty going on, so here’s this week’s update.

SUNDAY LUNCH 20th February
This Sunday’s lunch is almost sold out. The second sitting is NEARLY FULL and the earlier sitting is filling up fast. If you’d like to have a delicious Sunday lunch at the Club… please BOOK ASAP and we’ll try to make sure you’re accommodated. This Sunday we have a particularly tasty menu, in my humble opinion. We hope you’ll join us! Menu details are here and you can book online here or you can telephone the office.

Hang on, is that a fizz alert I see flashing at me? Yes. Yes, it is. We have one SPECIAL event on the way.

FIZZ TASTING Friday 4th March at 6.30 until 10pm
Oooo, delicious! Fizz and ‘substantial’ canapés? Yes please and thank you! Our Club’s ‘house’ fizz celebrates the launch of a new vintage. Jarrow House, as founded by our very own Sally Smith and her partner Robert Auld, will be hosting a special tasting event at our Club. As you probably know, we don’t muck about when it comes to serving proper glasses of fizz or substantial canapés! A tasty glass of fizz on arrival followed by a tutored pairing with full glasses of each of the THREE Jarrow House vintages. AND your chance to put in an order with a one-off discount case offer price for the evening too. Not only should the event be a lot of fun but you’ll have the opportunity to try some delicious fizz, hear about how it’s made and taste some of chef’s finest canapés (yes, the big ones, you won’t be going hungry!). We have limited availability and it’s £28 per person. And we’ll also have a special Member’s Rate for extra bottles of fizz at the bar too. Please invite your friends and neighbours along! BOOK NOW HERE!

JAZZ BRUNCH
And if that wasn’t enough… If you’re coming along to the sold out Jazz event on Sunday 6th March or simply fancy brunch at the Club… Chef will be making some rather tasty toasted muffins with seared roast beef and onion marmalade, rocket and crispy hash browns. Of course there’s a veggie option too, grilled halloumi, with all the same sides. And you can pre-book here! Even if you aren’t attending the jazz, why not pop to the Club for a cheeky brunch?!

DATES FOR THE DIARY
SING
The Jupiter Singers are BACK! This is our wonderful choir and you can join in too. On Saturday 26th February from 10am until noon. Everyone is welcome and you can find out more details here or via the Facebook Page here. The wonderful singing and choir is a huge amount of fun or you may just fancy popping down to the club that day to have a coffee or a cheeky drink whilst you listen to their wonderful tones and arrangements!

LUNCH
Our next Sunday Roast Lunch is on Sunday 13th March. Book early to avoid disappointment and you can see the menu here and book online here.

SPORTS
Blimey, I got distracted away from sports. And we are a sporting club after all! There’s plenty going on. All our usual winter leagues (tennis and squash) and Club sessions are running too and you can join in too. Please do contact the office for more details. We have a wide range of exercise classes too and you can get involved – so why not try them out and see how you get on? And if you fancy a game of ping pong or darts? If the ballroom is free, please do enquire at the bar and feel free to play!

LADIES’ TENNIS TEAM
For those of you who have been following the progress of our Ladies’ Team. They’re through to the final of the Harry Brickwood Cup having seen off The Essex Club 3 – 0. Congratulations to the team and the very best of luck for the forthcoming finals!

COMMUNICATIONS
Over the coming weeks we’ll have some important news on our Membership subs for 2022/23 and a range of initiatives for the Spring and Summer.

And please don’t forget that if you’re in a team or want to post a result of have ideas for an event? Just get in touch. And DO take photos! Email them to Kat katerina@fosltc.com as we’d love to post them on our social media channels.

That’s it for this week. Batten down those hatches and let’s hope for some calmer weather in the coming weeks!
