Finally we have some better weather on the way. And with our grass tennis courts playing so well and such a lot to do at the Club – please do come and visit over the coming week.
Our final tournament of the season, the LTA Junior Open, has been taking place this week. At the beginning of the week, the weather wasn’t great, pushing play onto the hard courts. We know this causes court availability issues when it happens and we thank you for your understanding. However play is back on the grass and with the tournament coming to an end not only will there be some amazing tennis to watch as we reach the tournament’s final stages but to coincide with the spell of fine weather… more court availability too! Please do make sure you book your court. Either online or via the office. And for any guests, ensure they are checked in and pay any guest fees too.
For our finals day on Saturday, play will commence at 10.30am. The Bar will be open all day and the Poolside Kitchen will be open from 12noon until 6pm.
If your junior Members would like to swim, please make sure you’ve booked a swimming slot HERE.
Now that Summer has finally returned and let’s hope it stays for a while! Our Club has everything you need to keep your family and children entertained – swimming in our heated pool, summer camps, short-term guest passes (daily, weekly, monthly), savoury food, ice cream and other tasty refreshments! All the info you need is on our website. Should you not find what you’re looking for please get in touch with the office.
Don’t Freak Out!
On Sunday 13th August, Frinton Summer Theatre return to the Club for the second of their Music Nights. The band is superb. And you’ll really enjoy their fantastic playlist, performance and fun they bring with them too. Ably supported by Clive Brill and The Jazz Slayers… it all kicks off at 8pm on Sunday evening. Tickets may still be available HERE so why not pop down to your Club for a few summer evening drinks, a fantastic music line-up and perhaps even strut your funky stuff on the dance floor?!
We used to have a suggestion box. Then it vanished. But by popular demand it’s back! Located in the foyer, this is your opportunity to let us know what you’re thinking. Of course you can always send me an email too. Anyway whether it’s good or poor feedback or service you’d like to comment on, a creative idea, a thought you had at the bar or whatever’s on your mind, we’re always happy to hear from you. Your comments will be treated in confidence and we’ll always see what we can do to improve our Club for you, our Members.
Are your children getting bored? Require some extra time to work? Or just fancy a bit of time without the need to keep your juniors entertained. We still have a few Tennis and Squash Summer Camps dates available. Please get in touch with our coaches or book online. It’s all about having fun, being active learning or improving your game. Please click HERE for more information on what’s available and to book.
Karaoke is Back | Friday 25th August | 8pm
Have you made any plans for the bank holiday weekend yet? Friday 25th August will be a fun night as our ever-popular karaoke is making a comeback! Non-members are welcome and as always we are expecting to hear some great tunes! Even if they’re ruined by some appalling singing. Although sometimes we are pleasantly surprised by the renditions. Either way it’s always a fun night and our regular hosts James Blackman and Bill Greeno will host the evening. Get on down!
Walking Tennis | New for September
Love tennis but looking for a gentler pace of play? Starting in September, Walking Tennis arrives at the Club. It’s a safe, fun, inclusive and fantastic way to stay active! It’s ideal for those who:
- Are just starting out and want to build up their confidence.
- Are returning to play from injury.
- Just need a bit more time getting to the ball.
Please click HERE for more info or to book. We also run evening coaching sessions for more advanced players. Please email us for further details – firstname.lastname@example.org. All groups are limited to 8 players.
Not into Tennis? How about walking football? It is an excellent way of staying fit and healthy!
Play takes place every Monday afternoon, 2.00pm until 3.30pm on our hard tennis courts and every Wednesday evening (under floodlights) from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. Any newcomers welcome! First week is free of charge and all you need to do is to turn up.
Gym and Exercise Classes
Our classes remain really popular so you’ll need to book if you want to take part. Non-members are welcome to join in, fees are applicable. To see the full schedule, new class additions and to see what’s coming up, click HERE.
The swimming pool will be open into September. It’s adults free swimming in the morning and children must book into a slot for the afternoon sessions, where we have a lifeguard on duty. You can book slots HERE. Squash and racketball continue to be popular and if you’re intrigued by what’s on offer – why not pop into one of our Club evenings? And now the fine weather has returned, croquet is a wonderful game. So why not try it for yourself? AAA Members are welcome to play and others are more than welcome to try out this relatively new addition to our Club’s offering before deciding if you’d like to upgrade your membership. Club sessions take place on Wednesday afternoons – details via the office if you’d like to get involved or even have a bit of coaching to understand the rules and gameplay.
We are installing a new glass door on squash court no1 next week on Wednesday and Thursday, therefore this court won’t be available on these particular days. If you will be using our gym or are booked into our classes on these days, please use the yellow fire exit door situated on the ground floor.
And please don’t forget our championship finals! We will have some great matches on the day – Saturday 2nd Saturday, kicking off at 10am.
That’s it for now. We’ll have details for the return of our ever popular Sunday Lunches in September in the coming weeks.
Meantime, enjoy the return of summer and pop down to see us! Have a great week.
