Hello!

Happy Halloween to all of you! As winter begins to set in (although with the current mild temperatures it doesn’t feel very wintry!), so the clocks will go back this Sunday morning. Enjoy the lie in and don’t forget to ensure your bookings are at the right time! Of course this means the evenings will be darker and so you’ll need to book the lights for outdoor courts. All the details on how to use ClubSpark and to book online can be found HERE.

AGM
Our AGM will be held on Friday 11th November. Drinks will be served from 6pm and we’ll get going at 6.30pm. We hope this will be an opportunity for you to hear about the latest developments at your Club, receive updates from an amazing year of activities and our plans for the works to the thatched roof. There will be some important areas of business to transact. First will be the formal business of adopting the Club’s accounts. We’ll send out the link next week so you can see them ahead of time and to formally elect our Treasurer and a new Member to the Board. We’ll also confirm the arrangements for the various committees we have too. We’ll set out the vision for the coming year ahead. And finally, to take your questions. We’ll be laying on some drinks and canapés for the event. As you know, Chef does make a delicious canapé so please can you let Rebecca and Karen know you’re planning to attend so we can cater for the right amount of participants.

Sunday Lunch
Our next roast Sunday lunches will be on Sunday 13th November and Sunday 27th November – please do book early to avoid disappointment. The last few have been fully booked. Need I say how delicious they are? You can book a table any time between 12 and 2.30pm and lunch will be served in the ballroom. For the menus and to book click HERE. Online bookings will be available from 1st November.

France Uncorked
Our next Wine Tasting and Dinner will be on Saturday 19th November. The event is filling up fast so if you’d like to book tickets, please do ASAP! Chef has prepared a delicious menu, our wine guide for the evening will be the fabulous Steve Pryer and your host will be Club President, Martin Tinsley. All the details and to book click HERE.

Tennis
It’s your last chance to sign up for the Winter League competitions. The sign-up sheets are on the notice board. The deadline is Monday morning so if you want some fun and friendly competitive matches, please put your name down over the weekend.

We are seeking to resurrect Saturday ‘Club Tennis’. For the duration of the winter this will be in the bubble and free to all tennis members. Di Lewis is leading on this and if you’re up for it, please register your interest via the office.

We have a range of coaching on hand for you and it’s at this time of year that our coaches may have a few extra times available so please do enquire. You’ll know that when I first became involved with the Club I hardly knew which hand to hold a bat. I’ve got a proper racket (or is it a racquet?) now and have been having lessons and you know what? Our coaches can work miracles! Why not try for yourself? Please do make enquiries to Pete and his team – get a lesson booked and see how you improve! Should you be a complete beginner, this one will be for you – click HERE.

We also have ‘Club Tennis’ and various coaching groups too – there’s something for everyone!

Gym
Whether it’s working out in the gym, a class, personal training or whatever you need, Katy and her team are on hand to help. Please do find out what’s on offer and get involved!

Other Sports
Other sports available? Of course they are. For example, we have squash and racketball. Tuition and coaching is available and details are on the website HERE. Our table tennis table is available for play when the ballroom is free, our walking footballers meet twice a week. If you’re over 50? They’d love to chat to you about what’s on offer. And as ever, croquet continues to grow! If you’ve not played… why not give it a go? Details of all our sporting activities, classes and coaching are available online or via the office.

Looking Ahead…
On Saturday 3rd December we have a mulled wine and mince pie progressive tennis tournament with a festive theme. And our Christmas Party Nights too – book now! They’re getting very full. And we also have our New Year’s Eve Party at the Club – a perfect way to see out the old year and welcome in the new! All the details are HERE.

And Finally
I know we have often asked you for funding assistance and help. This one costs NOTHING. So, if you don’t do anything else this weekend, please sign up for us! Our EasyFundraising campaign continues. As you are possibly ordering Christmas presents or holidays or in fact pretty much anything online… every time you shop, the Club gains. AT NO COST TO YOU! Here’s how you get involved HERE – please do help us raise funds for the various projects we have ahead.

That’s it for now. Have a good week and do continue to enjoy your Club and all it has to offer.
