Hello!

It seems almost rude to be talking about the end of summer when I sometimes wonder if we’ve had one at all! But there’s a lot going on over the next few weeks, so here’s the low down for you!

Tennis

This Saturday (4th September) sees the culmination of the whole summer of tennis competition with the finals of the Club Championships. I urge you to pop down to the Club if you can to support, watch, cheer and applaud our wonderful competitors and to see some wonderful tennis too! We also have our junior’s competition tomorrow so it will be a busy day on court! Our thanks must go to all of you for playing and to Pete Richmond, our coach, and our Tennis Committee for all the organisation that’s gone into running this.

Also as the summer season comes to an end, so the Poolside Kitchen will be shutting for another year. Thanks to Jamie, whilst Paul has been off, we have had wonderful food, sandwiches and sausage rolls. This weekend sees the last of those sarnies! And we wish Jamie well as he’s going to be the sous chef at Arnies which opens on Connaught Avenue soon!

The Poolside Kitchen will be open for sandwiches and ice cream this weekend.

Some other dates for your diaries…

Junior Swimming – last day Sunday 5th Sept

The Bubble returns on – Monday 6th Sept (it will be in operation as soon as possible and we’ll let you know when you can book it!)

Grass Courts Closing – Sunday 19th Sept

Sunday Lunch

Chef will be back from Sunday 3rd October… booking for Sunday lunch will open soon and we’ll keep you posted.

Christmas

Sorry. What? Are you being serious..? Yes! Our Christmas Dinners and Special Member’s Sunday lunch are BACK. Booking is OPEN so do get involved. Chef will be pulling out all the stops!

New Year’s Eve

For the first time in many years, the Club will be hosting a fantastic New Year’s Eve dinner and disco to help say good riddance to 2021 and bring in 2022. If you’d like to book, then the website has all the details! It will save you cooking and hosting a monumental party. We’ll even do the washing up!

Croquet

We are expecting the next phase of the Croquet Lawn works to be done from the 15th September. This involves the second phase of the sprinkler system, levelling and sowing the new seed. We aim to be able to open our brand new court for the beginning of next year’s season!

Gym

Of course, there are plenty of classes available. So why not book yourself in? As I have mentioned I have hauled myself into the gym to use the Technogym equipment. It’s really first class! If you’ve not investigated? Please do or get in touch with Katy who will be happy to walk you through it. And why not tell your friends about us too?

Squash

The website has now been updated with the new coaching details and activities. Take a look!

And… Walking Football

If you’re interested, the Walking Football players are here every week and if you’d like to find out more, why not get in touch with the office?

AGM

We’ve told you that the AGM is going to be on Friday 15th October at 7pm at the Club. If it’s not in your diary, please make a note! And we’ll be publishing the process for the event and elections next week.

The weather forecast for the weekend is excellent! Please do come and visit and enjoy some sporting activities, a drink, sandwich and bring your friends too!

Have a great week.

James Max

Club Chairman
