Hello!
This weekend sees our big Thatched Roof Fundraising Evening. It’s pretty much sold out and we hope to have a great evening at the Club. Numbers have now been fixed but for any enquiries please speak to Rebecca or Karen. Regardless of whether you’re coming along or not, we do still need your help. Yes, we have raised over two thirds of our target we need to reach… But we are still short. PLEASE do contribute whatever you can to our Thatched Roof Fundraiser. This refurbishment job is essential and whatever kind of Membership you have, we all rely on our amazing Clubhouse. ALL donations made (unless they are from a charitable account) attract Gift Aid which means your donation is topped up. Big or small, every donation is welcome. Please donate HERE.
With regard to our auction… a glitch has meant that the online bidding has stopped. I am really sorry to say that if you thought you won… you haven’t (yet)!
We have paused the bidding meaning that if you ARE attending the event, you may have to bid higher on the night to secure the item. If you were an underbidder but still interested, again the bidding won’t close until items are auctioned off on the evening. If you AREN’T attending, you can still let us know of your bid (via Kat) or someone attending the dinner can bid on your behalf. We will seek to ensure you have a fair crack!
If you aren’t coming along on Saturday – you can still bid for auction items < emailing your top bid to Kat if you cannot be present > some are very unique and we hope you’ll find something you like! Details of the items to be auctioned are HERE.
Just to update you on our financial progress for the Thatched Roof Fundraising…
Received/promised £65,190k
Still to raise £25,470k
We really hope that we will reach our target and with your help? We will!

Two games will be played at any one time (ie double banking – primary and secondary colours) on two lawns. It is anticipated that (depending on numbers) it will consist of a straight knock out competition – to be confirmed once entries are finalised.
Entry fee £10 to the croquet equipment fund. To enter please enter your name by midnight Wednesday 19th October 2022 to Richard or Ann.
Gym
By popular demand, as from 11th October, we are adding another Pilates class on Tuesdays at 10am. Please sign up – these classes are very popular!
Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. The principals of Pilates are breathing, concentration, control, centering, precision & flow. Some extra time with be spent at the end of this class for stretching and relaxation. And that’s just the start of it as we have a range of other classes for you – all the details are HERE and you can book online or speak to Katy for more details.
Bar Prices
It won’t have escaped your attention that prices are rising for just about everything. And drinks prices are no exception. As we mentioned some months ago, we have managed to keep our bar prices fixed for six months, with some prices staying the same for even longer. You will possibly have read that some pubs are having to close because of increased costs. We are no exception to these turbulent times. Higher raw material costs, transportation and labour costs – well, you know the score!
The upshot is that some of your favourite tipples may increase in price. I won’t list all of them but Guinness, sadly, is one of the big risers. Most of the lager and beer price rises are below 20p. It’s totally out of our control and we have to pass these costs on. Similarly, some of our wines are going up too. We have managed to keep about two thirds of our prices the same but about a third of prices will have to rise on Tuesday 4th October. We hope you understand whilst recognising that we are doing what we can to keep a lid on things! Of course, your Member’s Discount of 20% still applies to drinks – when purchased with your Club card.
Don’t forget…
Karaoke is on Friday 14th October
Christmas Bookings for our famous Christmas Parties are well underway – don’t miss out!
Carols with Caryll will be on Christmas Eve at the Club – details to come!
New Year’s Eve sees a BIG party at the Club – tickets available NOW!
And we have a range of social events organised by various organisations from Jazz to the Literary Festival. You’re most welcome to come along – and details on what’s on and how to book can be found HERE.
That’s it for now. Have a wonderful week!
