Hello! What a few weeks we have to look forward to! This weekend there’s a free choir concert and some delicious food available… more of that later!

Fizztastic
If you like or are interested in English fizz, we have some amazing news. On Saturday 9th April, we’re hosting one of England’s finest sparkling makers at our Club! Busi Jacobsohn is a vineyard based in East Sussex. They produce around 30,000 bottles of English sparkling wine a year. This is a very small and niche operation. The largest UK houses, produce over a million bottles a year! Anyway, Susanna and Douglas who own the vineyard have agreed to come to the Club to talk about their journey and to taste their fizz too. We’ll be presenting their brut, brut rose and also their blanc de noirs (which has never been tasted in public before). Tickets are limited and we have paired the evening with a delicious menu put together by Chef. Four glasses of fabulous (award winning) English sparkling wine, canapés and a delicious two course dinner for £68 a head. We’ll be selling Busi Jacobsohn’s fizz in the bar at special rates for one night only AND for those attending you’ll be able to order cases of fizz at one-off prices at well below RRP! We are really looking forward to welcoming Susanna and Douglas to our Club and we hope you’ll want to get involved too by booking places for you, family and friends! Book here.

Free Choir Concert – Saturday 19th March
Our wonderful Club choir, The Jupiter Singers, are holding a FREE informal Lunch-time performance at the Club this Saturday. It starts at 12.30pm – you’ll love it! And chef is putting on a tasty Saturday Special. It’s pulled pork, fries and ‘slaw. Or there’s a veggie option too. Either turn up on the day or pre-book food here.

Mother’s Day – Sunday 27th March
Our 1pm Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch on Sunday 27th March has SOLD OUT. So we have decided to set up another sitting alongside tea… (well the clocks will just have gone forward an hour so you’ll hardly notice the time!) And from 3pm either enjoy the most extraordinary and lavish English tea, with a range of sandwiches, cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam and, of course, a fresh pot of tea (and a glass of fizz if you like!)… or just have a late lunch! We have roasted lamb or turkey on the menu. With all the trimmings and veggie options are available too.

Salsa
Did you know that Salsa has returned to our Club? If you’re part of a dancing couple, of intermediate standard and keen on ‘individual Cuban’ dancing? Then the classes which are at the Club every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm could be for you. And if you’re up for it? They’d be very interested in more of you joining in. If you’re interested, please speak to Niall Irving, via the office.

Our ladies played Westcliff Lawn TC in the final of the Harry Brickwood Cup – an over 40’s knock out competition, winning 3-0. FOS|LTC ladies have made it to the final many times previously but this is their first win.  A huge congratulations to everyone involved!

Ukraine
At our recent Jarrow House fizz tasting event, Sally and Rob kindly donated a case of their 2017 vintage (which has nearly all gone) to go to the highest bidder. And our huge thanks must go to Tim Peirsen who blew the competition out of the window with a stonking £500 bid. Much needed funds that will go to an important cause. Thank you Tim for your generous bid and thank you Sally and Rob for donating the case of Jarrow House fizz!

That’s pretty much it for this week. Have a great week, please do get involved and spread the word about what’s going on at the Club. For all our messaging and activities it’s actually YOU who can make the biggest and positive contribution to helping us make the Club vibrant, busy and popular!
